Platform: PS Vita, PS3
Release date in Japan: March 27th, 2014
Release date in North America and Europe: Fall 2014
Sega’s games based on Vocaloids have been a considerable success for the company, notably its “Project Diva” rhytm game series which consist of both main titles and spin-offs on various platforms. Yet despite that success, none of these games were localized into English until the most recent release: Project Diva F. It was with some surprise that Sega launched a Facebook campaign earlier this year, asking fans to like and share their page if they wanted to see Project Diva F released in the West. The Project Diva fans responded enthusiastically to the campaign, and the page quickly reached over 20.000 likes.
The response seemed to meet Sega’s expectations, and the game was later confirmed for a release in August 2013. In Europe the game was released as a digital download on PSN only, while in the US the game did receive a retail release alongside the digital PSN version. More recently, Sega confirmed they will also be releasing Project Diva F on the PS Vita in North America and Europe, noting that the PS3 release of Project Diva F had been a success for them.
Localization Status
What does this mean for Project Diva F 2nd, the sequel to the game that is set to be released in Spring 2014 in Japan? Of all games featured on this website, this game arguably has the best chance of being localized. However, at this point, the game has not been confirmed for a release in North America and Europe.
UPDATE: Sega announced that Project Diva F 2nd will come out in North America and Europe sometime this fall 2014. Both PS3 and Vita versions will launch at the same time and will receive a physical release.
