Atlus has been quick to roll out content in promotion for Etrian Odyssey 2: Knight of Fafnir. The official website has been updated with character bios and plenty of artwork. There are even some Twitter icons here for those interested. If you visit the blog (last updated on the 11th, as of this writing), you can also check out some preview BGM’s!
Recently, Siliconera translated the character bios for the accompanying party characters. Currently there are five bios up on the site, describing the same five you see in the picture above. Two have already been introduced: the protagonist, who is second from the right and a bit obscured, and Princess Arianna in the center. We know now from this other Siliconera writeup that the protagonist’s power is called Fafnir, as referenced in the game’s subtitle. Hit the break to learn more about the other three characters pictured, and to sample one of the background music pieces!
First is Bertrand. He is encountered while the protagonist and Princess Arianna arrive at the Ginnunga Ruins for the special centennial ritual. Contrary to what the artwork may suggest and his class (Paladin) Bertrand is loose with his responsibilities and weak in spirit.
Next is Chloe. She travels with Bertrand and her class is the War Magus, a hybrid class capable of healing and offense, allowing them great supportive utility. She behaves and speaks with flat affect and only talks when she is intrigued by something. These moments of intrigue will really light a fire under her though and add some spark to her normally deadpan speaking habits.
Lastly, we have Flavio. He is actually a childhood friend of the protagonist. Whereas the former is normally seen with a sullen countenance, Flavio is said to be spirited and talkative: the mood-maker of the group. He’s also a straightforward person who can deal with the eccentricities or general problems that arise from the personalities of the unique group he is traveling with. Currently, Flavio is part of an expedition group named Mizgarz, and his class is the Ranger.
Similar to the remake of the first game, Knight of Fafnir will feature animated cutscenes and voice acting, but will apparently feature almost twice the amount of voice-acting as the first game!
Below is the first preview BGM posted on the blog. Currently, there’s no music player set up on the website, so the piece was uploaded onto Youtube. It’s a happy and soothing piece. Enjoy it!
