Siliconera recently authored an article compiling a set of videos featuring four of character classes for the upcoming Atlus-Spike Chunsoft crossover Etrian Mystery Dungeon. Do note that while the game is going to be localized, the videos themselves are in Japanese. Each demo video is also about half a minute long. Continue reading to check them out!
First is the Swordsman, or Landsknecht in the West. The videos show off their raw physical attacking power. In addition, this character class can also attack in different grid ranges, adding some versatility to their offense. Still, they’re more designed for close-range combat. They tend to be more balanced than other class types.
Next is the Paladin, or Protector in the West. Contrary to the Landsknecht, the Paladin is a warrior who specializes in defense, designed to act as a damage absorber in a party. This can be especially useful combined with units who are “squishier” or lack defense. In the video, you can see a Protector apply a defense buff to himself.
Here we have the Runemaster. They specialize in inflicting elemental damage (helpful with enemies who have a particular weakness!) and status ailments. Runemasters have options to attack from a distance, which can be useful considering their generally poor defensive stats. Good strategy and party layout can really help Runemasters shine.
Lastly, we have the Medic. Medics aren’t traditionally designed for direct combat. Instead, with their wide-ranging healing capabilities and erasure of status ailments, they lend themselves well to supporting the party. Still, they can also inflict status ailments on foes; the video showcases a Medic inflicting damage and Sleep status on an enemy.
