Compile Heart announced Hyperdimension War Neptunia vs Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special back in March. The game is a crossover RPG between the Hyperdimension Neptunia and Sega Hard Girls franchises, both of which feature moe anthropomorphized video game consoles. Unfortunately there’s no trailer at the moment, but Dengeki Online has now shared artwork of a new major character in the game, Sega Hatsumi, and provided more details of the game’s story (translated by Gematsu).
Fans of the Neptunia series may recognize IF, who’s name is based on the company Ideal Factory (the parent company of Compile Heart) , as Neptune and little sister Nepgear’s trusted companion over the course of the series. In Neptunia vs Sega Hard Girls, she is now the main character. The story begins as IF travels to a grand library that governs the world’s history. In this library, tampering with the books can cause history to be rewritten or possibly even be lost forever. IF discovers that many of these said books have gone missing and in order to prevent further damage to the world, she sets out on an adventure to resolve the issue.
A new character teased by Compile Heart has been finally revealed. Sega Hatsumi’s background is unknown, and other than her name, we only know she lost her memory. Apparently her goal is to change the history of the war between the Neptunia CPU Goddesses and the Sega Hard Girls. She is described as charismatic and has strong leadership skills, however, she is bad at listening to others and will suggest unexpected and odd ideas for what to do next.
Gameplay details are still a mystery, but we do have teaser screenshots of IF performing a special attack and she is seen crawling in a dungeon, which is an ability that hasn’t been featured in other Hyperdimension Neptunia games. You can view the two screenshots below.
