While Vanillaware announced their latest title at Tokyo Game Show 2015, 13 Sentinels, this is not the only game they currently have under development. Previously they announced a remaster of Odin Sphere for Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Vita, called Odin Sphere Liefthrasir. Vanillaware will be remastering the 2D sprites of the game while also adding new content and revamping the gameplay.
You can check out the two trailers below. The first video showcases the story of the game. It’s in Japanese, but even if you understand the language, you can still admire how beautifully designed the cutscenes are. I’ll cheat a little for those who never played the original by giving you quick synopsis from the Playstation 2 manual:
Gwendolyn is the princess of Ragnalival and daughter of the Demon Lord Odin. She lives her life as a valkyrie growing up in her sister’s shadow.
Cornelius is the prince of Titania. One day he was transformed into an furry animal. He is in love with Velvet, but unsure how she will react to his new form.
Velvet is the surviving princess of the destroyed kingdom of Valentine but since fleeing she became known as the “Forest Witch”. Her role involves piecing together prophecies and preventing the Armageddon.
Mercedes is the princess of the Fairy Kingdom Ringford and next in line to be Queen.
Oswald serves the Fairy Kingdom of Ringford and is a human adopted by the Fairy Queen’s nephew, Melvin. He is seen as a Shadow Knight who places little value on his life.
The second video highlights the action and gameplay features. It first shows each character’s abilities and combat style, and then takes a look at the potion crafting and additional menus.
