A few days ago, SEGA revealed more details on Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X‘s Live Quest Mode, along with five new songs that will be included in the game. The game’s “Live Quest Mode” contains five different areas, each based on one of these different elements:
The game’s rhythm game tracks are divided among these different areas, and are also linked to the element of their area. For example, of the three songs that had been announced earlier, the song “Ren’ai Saiban” is linked to the “Cute” area, while “Raspberry Monster” and “Strangers” are linked to the “Cool” area. On their SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku website, Sega explained how the elements influence the gameplay in more detail. Read on to learn more!
In previous Project DIVA games, you could equip modules (costumes) and accessories. In Project DIVA X, these are now also linked to one of the elements described earlier. In order to successfully clear a song (and complete the quest), you need to fill the “Voltage Meter” up to a specific value. As you may expect from a rhythm game, you increase the Voltage Meter primarily by matching the on-screen button prompts in a timely manner. However, you can now gain a Voltage Meter Bonus by using certain modules or accessories on a certain song. This bonus increases the initial value of the Voltage Meter, making it easier to clear the song. Here’s an example:
The screen above shows you the “Set Up” screen before you start a song. Here, we just have the regular Hatsune Miku with her default module (note the “Neutral” element icon next to it) and no accessories. The Voltage Rate Bonus is 0%. The song in question is Ren’ai Saiban, so as mentioned earlier it’s linked to the “Cute” element.
Above, we have selected a different “School” module for Hatsune Miku, which is also linked to the “Cute” element. The Voltage Rate Bonus now changes to +20%, making it easier to clear the song.
Next, we added the Glasses accessory. This increases the bonus with another 10%, to 30% total. In the same way, you can stack the bonuses from up up to four different accessories.
Finally, when you combine certain accessories, they may also an additional Voltage Rate bonus on top of their own individual bonus. Here, the “Dizzy” glasses and “School Bag” accessories add a 12% “Class representative” bonus on top of the 20% one.
Aside from the Voltage Meter Bonus, each module is also tied to a specific “Skill”. For example, Recovery skills help cover missed button prompts, “Rate Up” skills help increase the Voltage Meter and “RARE Module Up” skills affect the drop rate of new modules. It seems these skills are also ranked in different levels. As such, a higher level skill for rare modules will increase the chance of a rare drop even more.
Last but not least, here are the next five songs that SEGA has officially announced for the game, along with their element and their modules.
“Ai no Uta”, by Lamaze-P (Element: Neutral)
“Lost One no Goukoku”, by Neru (Element: Cool)
“Mrs. Pumpkin no Kokkei na Yume”, by Hachi (Element: Chaos)
“Tsugihagi Staccato”, by Toa (Element: Cute)
“Nounai Kakumei Girl”, by MARETU (Element: Beauty)
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X will be released in March 2016 for the Playstation Vita, and in Fall 2016 on the Playstation 4 in Japan. At the moment, there has been no word on a possible localization of the game.
