Three years after its launch in Japan, Yakuza 5 for the PlayStation 3 is now finally available on the US and EU PlayStation Store! To celebrate the launch, SEGA of America posted a launch trailer on their Youtube channel, which you can watch below! For the EU gamers out there: while it wasn’t possible to preorder the game, PSN Plus subscribers can get the same 15% discount that US gamers got when they preordered, as long as you purchase the game before the end of the year. The regular price for the game is $39.99/€39.99/£32.99.

To say that this wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the fans would be no exaggeration. Back when Sony’s Third Party Productions requested which games people wanted to see localized, Yakuza 5 was one of the top requested games (along with, of course, Shenmue 3). If it hadn’t been for that, it’s unlikely the game would have been localized (or Yakuza 0, for that matter). We hope that this can mean a new start for the series’ success in the West! You can also expect a Yakuza 5 review from us in the near future.
