SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics Hub Launch Sees Sales of Retro SEGA Content on Steam Soar
The popularity of SEGA’s Mega Drive and Genesis line-up has just hit its highest point since the early 90’s! Following the launch of the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Hub on Steam on the 28th April, over 350,000 Mega Drive and Genesis titles have been purchased on Steam by fans worldwide looking to either experience this classic content for the first time, or take advantage of the all-new Steam Workshop modding support implemented with the free update.
The modding scene is taking off too with hundreds of custom ROMS being uploaded by the community since the launch.
“We’re really chuffed that the fans have got behind this update,” said James Schall, Director of Digital Distribution for SEGA Europe. “350,000 sales is a phenomenal achievement for content which is over 20 years old! It shows that there’s still a huge following out for the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis, reinvigorated by the fantastic community of modders out there uploading great content.”
But there are 58 different titles, I doubt people go buying them individually xD if everyone purchased bundles then it would be around 7000 purchases, which is not bad, but nothing to brag about lol
