It’s already been one year since the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter was launched, and Ys Net have posted an update on their Kickstarter page to celebrate the occasion. While the video posted with the update uses mostly footage of areas that we’ve already seen before, it does feature Yu Suzuki, who looks back on the work the team has done over the past year.
Among other things, Yu Suzuki mentions that they’ve been gradually adding new project members to their team. Late last year, they began using the Shenmue 2 characters for simple battle and conversation tests, running on the Unreal Engine 4. Then in January this year, they started work on a prototype build. The battles and facial expressions are said to be coming along nicely. Yu Suzuki concludes the video by saying that he feels like Shenmue 3 will turn out to be a great game, and asks fans to please keep supporting them. You can find the video in the update on the official website.
