The official blog for The World End Eclipse has recently announced that the game will be ending service on October 6, 2016. The online RPG game was made available on PC, iOS, Android in Japan and a PlayStation Vita version was scheduled to be released this year, but we can assume that’s been cancelled. The game was never released in the West.
The World End Eclipse was first released on iOS and Android in October 2015 in Japan, so it lasted less than a year before SEGA pulled the plug on the project. Last month, SEGA also shut down Chaos Dragon, another SEGA mobile RPG in Japan. In this case, both Chaos Dragon and The World End Eclipse were games that aimed to follow in the footsteps of Chain Chronicle. However, neither replicated the success of their predecessor. While SEGA has released a lot of mobile games in recent times, they’ve proven to be just as quick to shut them down when they don’t meet expectations. We included the original launch trailer for The World End Eclipse below.
