Publisher Deep Silver recently announced that Persona 5 will release on Valentine’s Day 2017 for both Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 in Europe: the same date as North America’s own release. Not only will EU and North America have release date parity, but Deep Silver will also be offering standard editions for both PS3 and PS4, and Take Your Heart and Steelbook Editions for PS4. And, Persona 5 will be available for purchase both at retail and through digital download for both platforms!
Preorders are now open for European customers. To review, Steelbook Editions apply to a limited amount of first-print copies of Persona 5 for the PS4, while the Take Your Heart Edition contains the Steelbook case, a hardcover art book full of character sketches and more, music sampling CD, school bag (for thieving purposes), 10 cm Morgana plush, all in one Collector’s Box. The planned pricing schedule is as follows:
- PS3 standard copies: €49.99 / £39.99
- PS4 standard copies / Steelbook Edition copies: €69.99 / £54.99
- Take Your Heart Edition: €89.99 / £79.99
Deep Silver’s decision to imitate Atlus’s release schedule for Persona 5 bodes well for the future of SEGA games that are released in EU! We hope to see this continue!

About
Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled high school students – the protagonist and a collection of compatriots he meets in the game’s story – who live dual lives as Phantom Thieves. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high schooler: attending class, after-school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self”. The game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and only by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears.
