During the latest “SEGA Nama” live stream, SEGA have revealed the first gameplay footage of Puyo Puyo Chronicle. Perfectly Nintendo managed to upload a recording of the live stream to their Youtube channel, and you can find their video below. Aside from showing some dialogue between Arle and Allie, and exploration of the 3D world, the video also shows the game’s battle system. As seen in the video, the enemies can be avoided when you encounter them on the map, but making contact with them will trigger a battle.
The battle is played using the familiar Puyo Puyo puzzle gameplay, which is shown on the bottom screen. The top screen shows your enemies, which can launch attacks at times (which are translated into garbage Puyo that drop on the bottom screen). it seems the characters in your party can also initiate special attacks via the X button to get out of a bad situation (around 5:15 in the video).
Puyo Puyo Chronicle will be released on December 8 for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. The game hasn’t been confirmed for the West, but the many requests by fans to see the game localized haven’t gone unnoticed to them.
