We already know Rez Infinite, the port of the original Rez to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, was getting a new area added to the game, called “Area X”. Enhance Games has now released the first trailer featuring this new area, and I’m quite impressed by the result. It also reminds me quite a bit of Rez’s spiritual successor, Child of Eden. Rather than try to explain why I found it so impressive, I’ll just ask you to watch the trailer below. Let us know what you think about the new area in the comments or on our social media!
Unfortunately, YouTube doesn’t handle the video very well, and the graphics would definitely look a lot better on PS4. There’s also a short article on the Sony Europe blog with a bit more info on the area here. Rez Infinite will be available as a launch title for PlayStation VR on October 13.
My opinion is that this is the first game I’ve felt like I need a 4k TV to play it (not happening lol)
I know people that loved REZ and hated Child of Eden, just by the music selection / artists working on each title, it’s obvious Mizuguchi wanted to promote his other productions with COE instead of joining forces with other artists again, this new area seems like it will have the same effect on them, it’s just a matter of different times and different compositions, imo.
I imagine 4K support wouldn’t be out of the question for PS4 Pro, although personally I don’t own a 4K TV either. The whole PS VR, PS4 Pro and 4K TV combo is really expensive and I don’t think a lot of people can really afford to make that upgrade all at once. This new Area X feels like a blend of Rez and Child of Eden, so I’m not sure if those who disliked Child of Eden will end up liking this one. It’s probably going to look great in VR though.
