Puyo Puyo Chronicle Is Getting A Demo on November 22nd in Japan

This past weekend’s SEGA Fes. was a significant opportunity to showcase many of SEGA’s upcoming major titles. During the Puyo Puyo Chronicle stage event yesterday, the company confirmed the distribution of an online demo set to release tomorrow, November 22nd, in Japan.

Details are scant about the demo, particular with regard to any sort of carryover bonuses for the full game. It is known that the main story mode will be playable in the demo.

Sadly, given the region lock on the Nintendo 3DS, you need a Japanese 3DS in order to play the demo.

Incidentally, the 4gamer article cited at the top of the page also mentions that a special Puyo Puyo tournament was held at SEGA Fes. yesterday. While Puyo Puyo tournaments already have a storied history in Japan, let us hope to continue to see more of these SEGA-sponsored tournaments in Japan.

Shortly following the release of the demo, the full Puyo Puyo Chronicle game will be released on December 8th in Japan. While there’s no announcement yet, SEGA of America have taken note of the demand from the fans, and we hope to see this game released in the West. With the absence of Puyo Puyo Tetris in the West, a game that was released on several platforms across console generations, the lack of Puyo Puyo in the West lately feels especially palpable.
