Every year, Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan and Asia conducts an award ceremony that honors games of particular commercial success released on PlayStation. Last year, Phantasy Star Online 2 and Yakuza 5 received distinction.
This year’s winners have been announced, and SEGA games are well-represented!
- Persona 5
- Gold Award (shipments or downloads above 500,000)
- Users Choice Prize (one of the year’s top ten games as decided by fan vote)
- Phantasy Star Online 2
- PlayStation Network Award (the top three games with the highest level of sales activity)
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Users Choice Prize (one of the year’s top ten games as decided by fan vote)
- Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live
- PlayStation VR Special Award (one of five titles deemed to have made particular contribution to the PlayStation VR brand)
Rez Infinite, though not being developed by SEGA itself also won the PlayStation VR Special Award.
In celebration of Persona 5‘s Gold Award, the official Japanese Persona Twitter account published a tweet with a great piece of artwork featuring the protagonist and Morgana, used as this article’s featured image.
We hope to see SEGA games enjoy continued commercial success, so that its various franchises can continue to grow and be enjoyed by many people.
