mednafen - Burning Rangers - 1

Mednafen Emulator Includes Experimental Saturn Emulation in Its Latest Release

The Multi-system emulator Mednafen has added experimental Sega Saturn emulation in its first release, and the initial impressions from the people who tried it show point to an impressive first release. At this point there’s no support for PAL games yet, so I ended up trying the US version of Burning Rangers. I was surprised to find that the game is already in a playable state. Only a few problems with text flickering and some sound distortion pop up at times, but otherwise this is a remarkably stable release.

SEGA to Reveal More Info on the Next Valkyria: Azure Revolution Demo Near the End of August

A new blog update featuring Helena and Blum (two characters from the game) on the official Valkyria: Azure Revolution website mentions that more information regarding the new demo will be revealed near the end of August. The 2.0 version of the demo is expected to be considerably different from the 1.0 version that was released earlier this year, since the development team received a lot of (sometimes harsh) feedback from fans. In addition, more information will be revealed concerning the voice cast for the game. Valkyria: Azure Revolution is still scheduled to be released this Winter in Japan on the PlayStation 4. There’s been no word yet on a possible localization.

Sakura Wars X Chain Chronicle

Sakura Wars X Chain Chronicle Collaboration Announced for Japan

In light of its 20th anniversary this year, the Sakura Wars series has seen several crossover projects with other games, including Granblue Fantasy and Phantasy Star Online 2. At a recent  event for their hit mobile game Chain Chronicle, SEGA has now announced that the game will also be getting a crossover with the Sakura Wars series.

Few details are known at this point, but SEGA did launch a new website for the collaboration event. Judging from the silhouettes in the artwork found there it seems that, aside from Sakura and Ogami, other characters of the first game might also make a return. Sega has promised they’ll be updating the website periodically, so we’ll keep an eye out for more details.
