Odin Sphere Leifthrasir’s Storybook Edition Includes Metal Slipcase With Gwendolyn Artwork

We knew that Odin Sphere Leifthrasir was getting a “Storybook Edition” release, exclusively for the PlayStation 4, which contained various extra’s compared to the regular release. One of those extra’s is a metal slipcase, and today, Atlus U.S.A. have revealed the artwork that will be featured on the back cover of that slipcase, which you can view below. The artwork features Gwendolyn, one of the game’s five playable characters. Earlier on, Atlus had also revealed the exclusive Alice and Socrates art print that will be included in the Storybook Edition. We also added the preview for that art print below, along with an updated image showing the entire contents of the Storybook Edition.

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir will be released on June 7th for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita in the Americas. The game will also be released in the EU somewhere during Q2 2016, but an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. For now, there are no details on whether or not the Storybook Edition will also be released in the EU.

Liberation of the Blue Sky Reaches 100K Pre-Registrations, New Character Ayasa Revealed

Liberation of the Blue Sky - AyasaIn Japan, people have been able to pre-register for the release of Liberation of the Blue Sky, SEGA’s upcoming mobile action-RPG for iOS and Android for a while now, and SEGA has recently announced that they pasted the mark of 100,000 registered users. As a result, SEGA has revealed a new character which will be given to everyone who has pre-registered for the game upon its launch. The character, Ayasa, is based of the real-life violinist of the same name, who is also contributing to the game’s soundtrack. You can find three previews of her work for the game at the game’s official website. The in-game character of Ayasa will be voiced by M · A · O (who also voices the character Aika Suzuki in Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation and Dreamcast in Hi-sCoool! SeHa Girls).

Aside from her website, Ayasa also has a Youtube page, and one of the videos posted there shows her performing Senbonzakura, a Hatsune Miku song by Kurousa-P. You can take a look at the video below!

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X Update Shows New Songs, Free Play & Live Edit Mode

The latest Project DIVA X update provides us with details about the game’s Free Play mode and Live Edit Mode, while also showing us some screenshots and character outfits for the songs announced in the latest issue of Famitsu. Read on for the details!

Free Play Mode

The game’s Free Play mode offers pretty much the same experience as in the past Project DIVA games. Here, there are no quests or elements tied to songs. Instead, you’re free to select the song and modules of your choice. Like in the old games, you have a Song Energy Gauge determining the rank you get when you clear (or fail to clear) the song.

Project DIVA X Free PlayHelp Items and Challenge Items also make a return in Free Play mode. Using these can help make the song easier, or more difficult, to clear.

Project DIVA X Free Play - Help Items Any modules and accessories unlocked in Live Quest Mode can be used in Free Play mode. That said, it’s not entirely clear to me if you’re actually required to play quests in Live Quests Mode to unlock modules and accessories here.

In Live Quest Mode, sometimes new Modules can “drop” during Chance Time, in which case you’ll see your character transform into that new module while you’re playing the song. But in Free Play Mode, modules won’t drop. Instead, you can actually select the module that you want the character to transform into. If you want, you can also disable the transformation altogether.

Live Edit Mode

The Live Edit Mode is an improved version of the Edit Mode in other Project DIVA games. Below, you can see the example of an edit screen, allowing you to set lighting and camera angles on the song’s timeline.

Instead of having you do everything manually, setting the different camera angles is made easier by allowing you to select from a range of presets for the stage.

You can also add a “one-shot production” which features effects such as feathers or petals flying in the wind. Each stage will have different one-shot productions. You can also change the timing of the transformation effect we talked about earlier.

The look of the entire stage can be changed based on a list of “stage productions”, and you can also change the lighting freely. In order to use the Live Edit mode of the PS Vita version, players will need to download the free “Live Edit Start Pack” from the Japanese PlayStation Store.

Lastly, here are the screenshots for the newly announced songs (and their modules), as well as the reveal of a new Medley.

“Crimson Leaf” (Akahitoha), by Kurousa-P (Element: Beauty)

“Identity” (Ai Dee), by Mitchie M (Element: Beauty)

Cool Medley – Cyber Rock Jam

This newly revealed medley for the “Cool” area contains the following songs:

  • Unhappy Refrain, by wowoka
  • Don’t Mylist Me! (Mairisu Dame!), by Live-P
  • Tengaku (Tengaku), by Yuuyu-P
  • Palette, by Yuyoyuppe
  • This Messed-Up Wonderful World Exists For Me (Kono Fuzaketa Subarashiki Sekai wa, Boku no Tame ni Aru), by n.k

That’s all for now! Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X is scheduled for a release on the PS Vita in Japan on March 24, 2016 followed by a release on the PS4 in Fall 2016.

SEGA Europe Hints at Valkyria Chronicles Remaster Release for the West, More Info Next Week

SEGA Europe’s latest episode of SEGA Central, where they announce the latest news on SEGA games showed us a bit of the Japanese Valkyria Chronicles Remaster trailer, and Dan Sheridan told viewers to tune in next week if they wanted to know if the game will be localized. While not an outright confirmation, it strongly implies that SEGA will soon be announcing that the PS4 version will indeed be released in the West. Watch the latest episode below!

Also worth noting is that in a recent Twitter poll by SEGA Europe, the majority of fans asked to see more content from SEGA of Japan. As you can see at the end of the video, it seems that Dan is already hard at work researching SEGA of Japan’s Youtube videos. In particular the ones featuring Japanese gravure idol Saki Yoshida.

SEGA Releases Valkyria Chronicles Remaster Story Trailer

SEGA of Japan have released a story trailer for Valkyria Chronicles Remaster, the PS4 port of the original Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. The video doesn’t show any gameplay, and the noticeable aliasing on the characters suggests that, like the PC version, the PS4 version won’t feature remade cutscenes. I explained the reason for that in an earlier article. With that said, you can watch the trailer below! Fair warning for those who haven’t played the original: like one of the earlier trailers, this video also contains a potential spoiler.

Project DIVA F and F 2nd Get a 50% Discount on the EU PlayStation Store (PS3) (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Sony are apparently sending out e-mails to people with a EU PlayStation Network account containing a unique code (one time use only) that grants an additional 10% discount to your entire PS Store cart. While it seems to be intended as an incentive to buy games from the January Sales, the description suggests it applies to any items in your cart (which the exception of pre-orders, subscriptions, PlayStation Now rentals and video on demand). However, it seems not everyone with a EU PSN account has received an e-mail with a code at this point, and it’s not clear if more e-mails are being sent out. There’s not a lot of time to use the code, as it expires this Sunday, January 17th at 23:59 GMT.
