Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X Announced for PS Vita and PS4!

Sega has announced the next Project DIVA game called Project DIVA X for the PS Vita and PS4! The game will be released on March 2016 for the PS Vita and in Fall 2016 for PS4 in Japan. You can visit the official website for the game here. Given the success of the recent Project DIVA F games and the fact that the game is being released on PS4, there should be a good chance that the game will be localized. It should also be interesting to see how the developers will handle the difference in performance between the PS Vita and the PS4. Perhaps the fact that they’re not aiming for a simultaneous release may have something to do with this. Personally, I hope that the game will finally support 60fps on the PS4. You can watch the first trailer below!

Sega Reveals the Opening Movie for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

Sega of America have posted the opening movie for their upcoming 2D fighting game Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. The movie shows of the playable and assist characters in the game (excluding the Sega-related characters, which I don’t think have actually been shown in the English trailers so far). The movie is also accompanied by the game’s theme song, “Belief” by Mami Kawada. Be sure to take a look at the trailer below! We also included screenshots of the playable and assist characters shown in the trailer.

New In-Game Battle Screenshots Revealed for Hyperdimension Great War Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special

Compile Heart has released a few more images of Hyperdimension Great War Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special. Shown in the screenshots is a view on the game’s battle system, which shows graphics and overall gameplay that looks very similar to what we’ve seen from previous Neptunia games. That said, the menu on the right does suggest that there’s at least one new gameplay element compared to the previous Neptunia games, since there’s a button linked to a “Jump” command now. It’s not clear at the moment how that ability will be used in battle.

The other screenshots seem to show off some of the special attacks that can be performed by the characters. Typically known as “EXE Drive skills” in the previous Neptunia games, these attacks are accompanied by a special animation. In one of the screenshots below (and in the featured image for this article), we also get to see the first in-game screenshot of Dreamcast (the SeHa Girl character). In the other ones, we see the franchise’s usual main character Neptune, whose leaving her role as main character to IF this time around, and another returning character named Plutia. You can take a look at the new screenshots below. We also added three other screenshots which we hadn’t posted before, featuring the game’s main character IF.

Toshihiro Nagoshi Hypes New Sega Game at Upcoming Tokyo Game Show

During a NicoNico Live stream, Toshihiro Nagoshi (the man behind Daytona USA and more recently the Yakuza games) said that he’s anxious for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show where Sega will be announcing a new title. While Nagoshi didn’t reveal details about the title, it’s expected that this will be an original game from the same team that developed the Yakuza titles. Nagoshi also mentioned that he thinks that “Sega’s live showing at Tokyo Game Show will be the most exciting one we’ve seen in a while”. We’ll find out soon enough if that’s the case, as the Tokyo Game Show starts in a few weeks from now, on September 17!

What do you think it will be?

Sega Launches ‘neXt39’ Teaser Website For a New (Project Diva?) Game

Our friends at SEGAbits noted that Sega has launched a new teaser website for an upcoming game. The website shows the text “3939.00 / 3939”, which seems to hint heavily at a Project Diva. Fans of Project Diva and Hatsune Miku will no doubt know the relevance of the number “39”, as those numbers can be read as “mi” (3) and “ku” (9). This means the name of the website can also be read “next miku”. That said, it’s not clear what the uppercase X is hinting at. I find it unlikely that it would hint at an Xbox One version, given how that console is almost irrelevant in Japan. The equation is also likely meant to hint at something, but it’s again unknown at what exactly. Gematsu noted the Tweet from the official Project Diva Twitter, telling people that Sega will have a new project to talk about soon, and hinting for more details to be revealed near the end of August and September.

We’ll be sure to share more details as they become available!

Mikudayo Videos Celebrate Project Mirai DX’s Localization

Sega have released three videos featuring Mikudayo, a character based on an actual full-body Nendoroid costume of Hatsune Miku. The costume was originally used to promote the first Project Mirai at the Tokyo Game Show 2011, but Mikudayo, as the fans started to call her, gained a cult following and ended up becoming somewhat an alternate character to Hatsune Miku. Noticing her popularity, Sega started to feature Mikudayo in promotional videos for the Project Mirai sequels. The three videos shown below were originally used to promote Project Mirai 2 in Japan, but have now been translated and released via The Crunchyroll Gaming Community on Facebook.

Stella Glow’s New Trailer Reveals “Witch Tuning”

Atlus’s latest Stella Glow trailer shows the game’s “Witch Tuning” mechanic. As you may recall from our previous articles, the story revolves around Alto (the protagonist) teaming up with four witches to stop another witch, Hilda, from destroying the world. The witches have the ability to use Song Magic, but to unlock their full potential Alto has to enter the witches’ hearts to help them overcome their inner fears. This is done through a process called “Witch Tuning”, where Alto enters a spirit world where the witchs’ fears are represented by monsters, which Alto will have to defeat in battle. If he’s victorious, the witch will unlock a new power (in the video, Sakuya acquires the new Song Magic “Song of Flames”). You can watch the video below for more details.

Stella Glow will be released during the holiday season in North America, for the price of $49.99. The European release date is currently set for spring 2016, where NIS America will be publishing the game.

Project Mirai DX Demo Now Available for NA and EU (UPDATED)

Sega posted a new update on their blog today, announcing that they made a demo of their upcoming rhythm game Project Mirai DX available in the Americas and Europe on the Nintendo eShop. The demo appears to be same as the one Sega released in Japan, as it features the tracks “Senbozakura” and the Project Mirai exclusive track “LOL -lots of laugh-“.

The game will launch in both retail and digital form on September 8 in the Americas and September 11 in Europe. Sega also reminds people that pre-orders and a limited batch of launch copies of the game in the Americas will come with a Hatsune Miku wallet chain and 19 double-sided AR cards. Unfortunately, the blog post doesn’t clarify which version the EU fans will get, but it appears at least some stores are also offering the same limited launch edition.

Update: The EU version only has one use available, while the US version of the demo has 30. We’re waiting for more information from Sega, but we’re assuming this was a mistake and the EU version was also supposed to have 30.
