Etrian Odyssey II Untold European Release Date: February 12

NISAmerica announced their planned release date for the European Union for Etrian Odyssey II Untold: The Fafnir Knight, the expanded remake of Etrian Odyssey II. The game is scheduled for a February 12 release date in Europe. For reference, the game came out in Japan in late November of last year, while an early August release date is planned for North America.

For our European audience, I can’t help but think that the release date distance is a bit painful. It does feel slightly more palatable than a long and anxious wait where no release date is confirmed for another few months, but on the other hand it’s still a pretty long wait. Hopefully the presence of Atlus games strengthens and becomes more readily localized in the future.

Both a physical and digital copies are planned as purchase options for hopeful gamers.

NISAmerica also produced the trailer for the Protagonist trailer to accompany their announcement. The trailer should be familiar for those who have seen earlier English media coverage of this game. If you haven’t seen it yet, well – DO NOT MISS THIS GREAT CHANCE.

Stella Glow Character Trailers: Popo and Risette

Sega recently released trailers for two of the witch companions in Stella Glow: Popo the Wind Witch and Risette the Water Witch. They are straightforward and comprehensive trailers, showcasing battle and character theme songs. The trailers describe what types of assistance the two witches offer in battle, while also playing the Witch’s theme song in the background.

Stella Glow RisetteRisette, voiced by Yoshino Nanjou seems to have a rather demure personality and her song sounds….tender? Soft? The words escape me at the moment, but I’m sure our readers will understand what I’m talking about. Her song is called “Toward the Legendary Sea”. Popo on the other hand is quite spunky and her song has a little more energy in it, even when it’s mostly “quiet.” She’s voiced by Maaya Uchida and her song is called “The Keys that Rusted Together”.

The Japanese demo is out already, for those interested or who might have the means to acquire the demo. Check out the trailers after the break!

Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX Receiving Expansion, Emi Yusa Confirmed

Dengeki Online just announced a new iteration of their crossover fighter Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax. As of now, the expanded release is only set for arcades in Japan, and the expansion’s new title hasn’t been publicly announced. However, it is currently set for release this summer. This expanded release will also feature balance adjustments to the existing cast, too.

Topping off the news of this release is the confirmation of a new playable character: Emi Yusa from Hataraku! Maou Sama/The Devil is a Part-Timer. Emi and Sadao Maou’s personalities constantly antagonize each other, to say nothing of their backgrounds as a holy knight and a devil, respectively. But as they are miraculously transported to the real world outside of the world of magic and demons, their powers are limited and their former lives serve as a sort of bonding point, however shaky that bond may be (perhaps it’s actually stronger than we think!) Now Sadao is a little less out of place by himself, and screenshots already do show him as a support character to Emi to reflect both of them representing the same franchise (though players are free to choose their team combinations, you cannot change whether or not they are playable or assist-only.)

Sega published and assisted with development of Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, though the main development forces were French Bread (Melty Blood) and Ecole Software. The game is rife with Sega shoutouts including characters and stages; hopefully we may see some more with this new release. That we’ll see more new characters besides Emi from within Dengeki Bunko is certain.

The article teases a more detailed announcement of this game on May 28th, so expect additional news around that time!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night – Men’s Crossdressing Outfits Trailer

Not long ago, Atlus announced DLC plans including songs and costumes for Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Some of those costumes, specifically the men’s crossdressing outfits, can be seen in the preview trailer visible after the break. It shows off Yu’s “Sukeban Style” costume, Yosuke’s “High School Girl Look” costume, and Kanji’s “Sexy Dress” costume. That silhouette at the end is meant to tease Kanji’s seaweed outfit. Pretty hardcore!

We’ll very likely end up seeing more song and costume DLC once this game is released, so keep an eye out. The game comes out in Japan on June 25th, with an unspecified 2015 release date for North America.

New Lost Dimension Character Trailer: Mana and George

The character trailers for Lost Dimension keep on coming. This time we have two characters: Mana and George.

Mana’s psychic ability is labeled “Overdrive”, which enables her to deal significant damage to enemies with simple martial arts attacks. She has more than just short-ranged tricks to help her attack; she can also create earthquakes and attack by throwing objects at her foes. Mana’s described as a lover of cute things, but she also possesses a spirited personality. She wants to take decisive action and solve problems as soon as possible. Interestingly, the voicing director seemed to give her something that resembles an English accent – probably meant to differentiate her from other characters.

George’s ability is called “Psychometry.” It’s essentially the same thing as Mana’s psychic ability in that it accelerates the power of his attacks, but his own attacks are noticeably different from Mana’s, as we see him wielding a katana in battle. It’s worth noting that George is American, so seeing the combination of hot-blooded American sword-wielder is a bit funny, but the katana is the tool through his attacks are amplified, after all. He makes liberal use of words like “justice” in his speech. With such a magnanimous and clearly heroic personality, of course this is the last person who would betray the team. Right?

Lost Dimension EU Release Date: August 28

Hopeful gamers in Europe will be able to buy Lost Dimension on August 28, one month after the North American release date of July 28. NISAmerica recently disclosed this release date alongside confirmation of physical and digital purchase options for the game, on both of its platforms (Vita and PS3.) Pricing has not been publicly announced, as of yet.

There’s no word yet on the availability of the DLC that will be offered to North American gamers. It’s going to be available free of charge for two weeks after the game’s release in that region – all told, it’s a nice package, including PSN avatars, in-game character costumes, maps for grinding and an extra story-related quest.

New Lost Dimension Character Trailer: Agito, Marco, and Nagi

AtlusUSA uploaded a new character trailer to their YouTube account, highlighting another batch of S.E.A.L.E.D. members. With this new set of characters, it’s really quite apparent that there’s no real harmony amongst the group – everyone has their own ideas about life and the world. That being said, only one of them will be the traitor when you play through the game, so don’t invest too much into appearances.

First, I would just like to mention that while the above image is in Japanese – the trailer is in English and features English voices. I just like that picture of Agito. Speaking of Agito…

Agito appears to be a pretty boy who makes up for in self-esteem what he lacks in charisma. He appreciates beauty, and tries to have the most aesthetically pleasing uniform amongst the S.E.A.L.E.D. members. I can’t say it’s not interesting; I actually kind of like it to be honest, in large part because it’s unique, but his hair is ridiculous. Anyway – Agito can teleport, which allows him to remain invisible as he moves. He can also teleport allies and enemies! Marco on the other hand seems less resolute about the mission to stop The End. He is telekinetic, and within the game this allows him raw offensive and defensive capabilities that are difficult for his comrades to measure up to. There’s a decent chance that underneath that reticent exterior is someone with conviction – strong enough to question the entire mission itself. Lastly, we have the cynical, perhaps coldly rational Nagi. It’s not immediately apparent that she has much of an investment in this conflict at all, besides simply being there and having a power that may help S.E.A.L.E.D. stop the world from ending. That power is described as levitation, which grants Nagi incomparable mobility across the map and also allows her to ram into enemies at high speed. Is she really all-business, or is her cold personality just an outer layer to the mystery that is this character?

Persona 4 Dancing All Night – Margaret, Human Teddie, and DLC News

Famitsu recently announced some interesting new content for Persona 4: Dancing All Night. While all of the Investigation Team will be present in this game (as one might expect) alongside Kanami Mashita and Nanako Dojima, the Velvet Room’s Margaret and Teddie’s human form will also be playable in this game. Remember however that each character will only be available on certain songs in the story mode; these characters will also have limited availability. Margaret is available to play as during Free Dance, and is an unlockable character under conditions that are unspecified as of yet. Human Teddie is a choice for any of Teddie’s dance numbers, functionally the same thing as being an “alternate costume.”

Stella Glow Demo Coming to Japan

Sega recently announced that Stella Glow, a 3DS RPG from Imageepoch that Sega is publishingi in Japan, will be receiving a demo. And the demo is coming out very soon – May 20th, not long ahead of the game’s June 4th release. Atlus is bringing the game to North America sometime later this year, with no specific release date currently announced. Additionally, demo plans for North America are known as of now.

The demo will allow players to sample the game’s prologue, wherein the evil witch Hilda will clash with the protagonist Alto. From there, Alto’s main mission will involve him recruiting witches to help him stop Hilda’s nefarious plans.

Stella Glow will also very likely be Imageepoch’s swan song, as the company has filed for bankruptcy. It’s been an unfortunate series of events for the company that apparently hasn’t been financially sound for the past couple of years. Gamers were likely first alerted to Imageepoch’s troubling circumstances with the publicized discovery that the company’s CEO had “disappeared.” But before Imageepoch filed for bankruptcy, the company had sought publishers for Stella Glow, and successfully contracted with Sega for publishing duties in Japan.

Credit goes to this Gematsu article for the initial news announcement.
