Sega Releases First DLC Song and More Costumes for Project DIVA F 2nd

Sega has released their second batch of DLC for Project DIVA F 2nd today, this time including the first DLC song titled “Look This Way, Baby”. The song can be bought for $2.99, or as part of the $29.99 Song Club DLC season pass. The update also includes a new set of loungewear-themed Costume Modules, which you can see in the gallery below. More UI skins have also been made available. The new content is already available on the US PSN, and we expect it to be made available on the EU PSN tomorrow. Interestingly, on NeoGAF people that bought the Song Club DLC season pass reported that they managed to download the new costumes for free as well. This was probably not Sega’s intention, as the Song Club normally only grants access to the DLC for the Rhythm Songs and not the costumes. It seems this problem has already been resolved.

Sega Releases First batch of Post-Launch Project DIVA F 2nd DLC

Sega has released a new set of Christmas themed modules as part of their first batch of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd DLC. Each of the six Vocaloids has a Christmas Costume Module priced at $1.99. If you want all six of them and you haven’t bought the $69.99 Costume Club DLC, don’t go buy them separately just yet. Sega is planning to add a new bundle that offers all six of the modules at a discounted price. Several new UI skins have also been added, those are available for free for the first 39 days after their release. At the time of writing this content isn’t available in the EU yet, but I assume it will be tomorrow. You can see the six different Christmas costumes in the gallery at the bottom of this post.

Chain Chronicle Released for the US on iOS and Android

As of today one of Sega’s most successful mobile games in Japan, Chain Chronicle, has been made available for the US on iOS and Android. Gumi seems to be handling everything regarding the English version of the game, and although it’s still a Sega game, they don’t seem to be involved with (or promoting) the launch of the game. I gave the game a try, and so far the experience has been rather positive. I haven’t been bugged with popups for in-app purchases (that are sadly very prominent in other Sega mobile games) yet, although I’ve only completed the tutorial at this point.

Persona 5 Confirmed for PS4 in North America

We already knew that Persona 5 was planned for a release on PS3 in North America, but during the PlayStation Experience conference Sony also confirmed that the PS4 version of the game will also be released in North America. While I don’t think anyone is surprised by this announcement (unlike with the Yakuza 5 reveal), it’s still good to have official confirmation. Atlus has also released an English version of the teaser trailer that was shown at the Tokyo Game Show, you can watch it here:

Sega & Sony Announce the Launch of Yakuza 5 for U.S. and Europe!

At the Playstation Experience conference, Sega and Sony have announced that Yakuza 5 will be coming to the U.S. and Europe! You can read more details on the Sega blog post. Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls will also be made available on the PlayStation Network starting today. Sony’s Third Party Production team, which got a lot of request for the localization of Yakuza 5 from Sega fans, will apparently be involved in bringing the titles overseas. The blog post mentions that “Yakuza 5 will be available exclusive to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in 2015”, so it’s not clear if it will be getting a retail release. But the fact that the game is being localized at all at this point in time is great news either way. We’ll of course be posting more details as they become available!

EDIT: Launch trailer can be watched below.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd Review (PS3)

After the success of Project Diva F, the first Project Diva game to be localized for the western market, it was inevitable that Sega would end up localizing the sequel as well. Like its predecessor, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd is a rhythm game where the songs are sung by “Vocaloids”, virtual idols whose voices are synthesized by software created by Crypton Future Media. The most famous of these characters is also the titular singer of the game: Hatsune Miku. After two concerts in the US and an appearance in the talk show “Late Night with David Letterman”, the virtual idol’s popularity has certainly increased in the US since the release of the previous game. This means Project Diva F 2nd game should have a good chance at surpassing the success of Project Diva F, if it turns out to be just as good (or better) than its predecessor. And that’s exactly what I’ll be looking into in this review. While it’s been released on PS3 and PS Vita, I’ll be reviewing the PS3 version here. The PS Vita version is largely identical in terms of content to the PS3 version, so a lot of what you’ll find written below will also apply to that version. Read on to find out my thoughts on the game!

Atlus Announces Etrian Mystery Dungeon Localization

Atlus has announced that Etrian Odyssey and Mystery Dungeon is being localized into English, and the game will be released under the name “Etrian Mystery Dungeon” in North America. Play-Asia already has the game available for preorder for US$ 39.99, with a release date apparently scheduled for March 2015. The game was only revealed about a week ago, so it’s great to see the localization being announced already! It also bodes well for a possible localization of Etrian Odyssey V and Etrian Odyssey: Untold II.

EDIT: The official website can be found here: http://www.atlus.com/etrianmd/. Atlus states that the official release is scheduled for Spring 2015.
