Sega Reveals The World End Eclipse Prologue Video

Sega’s recently announced The World End Eclipse for iOS, Android, PS Vita and PC, and has now published a video showing the prologue of the game. In a background story reminiscent from Sega’s Panzer Dragoon games, the video shows how the world was once destroyed by dragons. Now, humanity is trying to rebuild their civilization on the remains of those dead dragons.

Atlus Taking Over Persona 4 Dancing All Night Development

During the Tokyo Game Show we learned that Persona 4 Dancing All Night had been moved to a 2015 release date instead of being released this fall, already pointing at potential problems with the development of the game. Neogaf user duckroll now pointed out an article on the official Persona website revealing that the core development of the game has in fact been moved to the Persona team at Atlus. Kazuhisa Wada, director of Persona 4 Arena, will now be the new Producer & Director for Persona 4 Dancing All Night, while original developer Dingo will now only be assisting development. This move was apparently done to increase the quality of the game.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax European Release Date Confirmed for November, Gets New Story Trailer

We reported earlier that Sega Europe would be publishing Persona 4 Arena Ultimax in Europe, and now we’ve learned that the release date will be set in November (this time without region-locking!). Sega Europe’s COO Jurgen Post had this to say in an official press release:

“We’re delighted to be able to bring Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to Europe for all the fans of the series over here,” said Jurgen Post, president and COO for Sega Europe. “It represents a great new addition to Sega’s portfolio of tournament calibre fighting games.”

Also worth noting is that the game is receiving both a physical and a digital release in Europe, which is a departure from titles like Shin Megami Tensei IV receiving a digital-only release.

Persona 5 Planned for Release on PS3 and PS4, First Trailer Revealed

At Sony’s pre-TGS press conference today, Atlus announced that Persona will be released on both PS3 and PS4. They also revealed the first trailer, featuring a new character (which we can assume is the protagonist) arriving at the iconic Shibuya Crossing.

Siliconera has a translation of the recent blog post from Director Katsura Hashino. Among other things, he noted that the game is opposite to the previous one in the sense that it “will depict the lives of youths living in a setting of a big city”. He also apologized for not being able to show more of the game, and looked back at everything that they’ve been working on in recent years. Persona 5 is currently scheduled for release in 2015. You can watch the trailer below:

Sega Announces Chinese Localization for Phantasy Star Nova and Shining Resonance

This news is certain to give us some food for thought. PlayStation Taiwan has announced that Sega will be localizing Phantasy Star Nova and Shining Resonance in Chinese. Obviously, this begs the question why an English version of these games wouldn’t be equally worthwhile for Sega. In comparison, the Taiwanese version of Namco Bandai’s PS Vita game “Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment” received both Chinese and English subtitles, and the game has since been confirmed for a release in North America.

Seeing how many niche Japanese RPG’s are being localized nowadays, and companies like Square-Enix even changing their focus back to JPRG’s for a core audience after the worldwide success of Bravely Default, it’s surprising to see Sega continue to ignore the Western market. Even more so since Sega’s recent financial results weren’t particularly good, largely due to a simple lack of new games. Let’s hope we can eventually convince Sega to release more of their games worldwide.

New Yakuza Game Exclusive to PS3 and PS4, Sega Reveals Teaser Website

Sega has revealed a new teaser website for their upcoming Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku) game. While it doesn’t have an official name yet it seems likely it’ll just be called Yakuza 6, seeing how Sega has confirmed that the game will be part of the main series. The website mentions that there will be an announcement on August 24th, so it’s safe to assume that’s when the game will be revealed to the public. The game is also confirmed to be exclusive to the PS3 and PS4.

PlayStation Now Beta Includes Some Sega and Atlus Games, But No Valkyria Chronicles/Yakuza

The open beta for PlayStation Now, Sony’s new game streaming service, is now officially underway in the US and includes some Sega and Atlus games. Sega have three games available at the moment namely Sonic CD, Crazy Taxi and Alpha Protocol, while Atlus is offering people access to Catherine, their PS3 puzzle/adventure/horror game which they first released back in 2011. At one point Sega’s NiGHTS into Dreams was also available for the service, but right now it’s not part of the 100+ games available for the beta. Unfortunately that means Valkyria Chroncicles and the Yakuza games are also not available at the moment, something we hope will change in the future. It’s interesting to note that Alpha Protocol, unlike the other two games, is in fact not available as a digital download on PSN on the PS3. This means we may very well see Valkyria Chronicles and the Yakuza games become available on PlayStation Now as well, seeing how those aren’t available digitally either.

Tears of Tiara 2 Announced for North America and Europe

While Siliconera had already revealed that Tears of Tiara 2 would be localized, it’s only now that Atlus has officially confirmed the release of the game for North America and Europe. Co-developed by Aquaplus and Sting, Tears of Tiara 2: Heir of the Overlord is a strategy RPG where most of the story is told in a visual novel style. While the first game was never localized, its characters were featured in the 2D fighting game Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match, which Atlus did localize and release last year. There’s also an anime adaptation that was released in North America by Sentai Filmworks. Continue reading »

Fans Start “Day of the Dragon” Campaign to Convince Sega to bring Yakuza Games to the West

Over at the official Yakuza games forum, user king_ruckus is asking support for a “Day of the Dragon” initiative. The idea is to send letters to Sega (arriving around the 8th of August) asking them to localize the Yakuza games. Of course, we at Segalization are happy to spread the word! Here’s king_ruckus’s message to Yakuza fans:

It’s 2014 and Ryu Ga Gotoku 5(Yakuza 5) still hasn’t made its way outside of Japan. Help us reach out to SEGA in a meaningful way and show them that we still want this series.

Description:

Our goal is send at least 1,000 unique letters to SEGA’s main office in America on or around the “Day of the Dragon”, 8/8/2014.

Taking part in this campaign is EASY. Just have something ready to mail to the following address the week of 8/8/2014:

SEGA of America, Inc.
350 Rhode Island Street
Suite 400
San Francisco, CA 94103
USA

Your letter can be anything you want. Keep it simple or let loose, your choice. The important thing is to send something in to let SEGA know you still want more of this series!

This is an M-Rated, niche title. The Yakuza series really needs YOUR help to continue. Please take a few minutes out of your day and show some meaningful support.

If you’d also like to mail letters to the Japan or London offices, those addresses follow:

Japan:

SEGA Corporate
1-2-12 Haneda
Ohta-ku
Tokyo 144-8531
Japan

London:

SEGA Europe Ltd.

Middlesex
TW8 9BW
