EU Preorder for Persona Q Premium Edition Revealed, Fans Criticize NISA Store Pricing

NIS America recently launched their new European store, allowing fans in Europe to buy Limited Editions of their games directly, without having to import them from the US store. Of course, this includes the upcoming Atlus game, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: The Wild Cards Premium Edition. However, while this should have been good news, the fans were quick to realize that the prices were a lot higher in the European store than in the US one.

Yesterday NISA opened up pre-orders for the Persona Q EU Premium Edition, but unfortunately the price for the game is also a lot a higher than its US counterpart. I’d personally have to pay $138 (game + shipping) to get the EU Premium Edition of the game, compared to the $80 + free shipping price of the US version. While we’re used to seeing higher prices for our games in the EU compared to the US, the steep 73% price increase is difficult to accept for the European Persona fans. NISA also announced (cheaper) standard shipping options for the majority of countries outside of the UK, although it’s not clear which countries actually get this option. In any case, it did little to stop the complaints. Fans are still asking NISA to lower the price of the games themselves, but at the moment it seems NISA is not planning to do so.

On NISA’s Facebook page some users have noted that there are local retailers in the EU that are now also accepting pre-orders for the Premium Edition for as low as €70. Despite these reports, NISA claims the Premium Edition is only available from the NISA EU Store. We’ll try to get more details on this, as an alternative to the NISA store would be a welcome thing indeed.

Persona 4: Arena Ultimax Not Region Locked for North and South America

We reported earlier on about the fact that the original Persona 4: Arena was the only PS3 game in existence to be region locked. Thankfully, Atlus have confirmed that the sequel that will be region free for the Americas. Along with that news, we got to learn more about the pre-order bonuses for the game. We’re still waiting for news on a European release of the game, but at least importing the US version will actually be an option now.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd Gets English Lyric Translations!

Sega announced that Project Diva F 2nd will be getting an English translation for the song lyrics, a feature that was often requested by fans ever since the first Project Diva F was localized and only had the lyrics available in romaji (the original Japanese lyrics written in Latin alphabet). There are plenty of people who play the Project Diva games but don’t know Japanese, so this feature not only allows them to understand the lyrics but it also adds much needed context to the music videos shown in the background during gameplay.

Both Sega and Atlus will be present at the upcoming Anime Expo (this week, July 3-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center), with Atlus showing their upcoming Persona games and Sega showing Project DIVA F 2nd. Although Aaron Webber’s departure from Sega means he won’t be at the expo, Sam Mullen confirmed he will be there to welcome the fans. Earlier on, Aaron Webber did hint they may have a special surprise regarding Project DIVA F 2nd at the expo. It seems that surprise might be the following announcement for a Project Diva F tournament at the Sega booth where you can win tickets for the Hatsune Miku Expo in LA. Continue reading »

Aaron Webber Leaves Sega

Sad news today as Aaron Webber (aka RubyEclipse) announced that he will be leaving Sega of America. In the blog post Aaron mentioned he will once again pursue his dreams, but this time in a new direction outside of the gaming industry. More recently, Aaron had been hard at work promoting, among other Sega games, the upcoming Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd, a game we obviously hope will be a success for Sega. We wish Aaron all the best in his future endeavors.

Aaron Webber

Aaron leaves Sega with an announcement of his new (possibly fictional) game, Big’s Big Fishing Adventure 3.

Persona Q Preorder Bonuses

We’ve already reported on the preorder bonuses for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax earlier on, but during E3 Atlus also revealed a new trailer and the preorder bonuses for Persona Q. The first run of copies will include 11 Tarot Cards, which complement the other set of Tarot Cards that will be included in the preorder bonuses for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. The regular edition of the game will cost $49.99. Atlus will also be releasing a “Wild Cards” premium edition of the game, which includes the Tarot Cards but also an art book, soundtrack CD and a Deluxe Hard Case for the 3DS XL for the price of $79.99.

Persona Q

Persona Q Premium Edition

For those interested in preordering, you can find a list of retailers on the official website for the game.

Aside from the preorder bonuses, there’s also the Persona Q E3 trailer which we haven’t posted yet. That one can be seen here:

Nintendo 3DS - Persona Q E3 Trailer

The game sold well in its first week in Japan, which is a certainly good sign for the future of the franchise, given how it’s the first Persona game to be released on a Nintendo platform. Nintendo have also revealed that Persona Q will be released in Europe by NIS America later this year, and although they can’t release an official announcement yet, both employees of NIS America and Atlus dropped by on Reddit to confirm the news. It seems Persona Q is shaping up to be another success for Atlus, which in turn is good news for Sega and also the fans looking forward to seeing more games localized from Japan (both from Sega and Atlus).

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd E3 Stage Demo

Gamespot have published a new video showing a stage demo of Project Diva F 2nd, and Sega’s Aaron Webber was there to tell people more about the game. And if you had any doubt that he really wants you to play this game, just watch the video. Aaron talked to the viewers directly, and asked people that only ever play the more well-known FPS games to broaden their horizons a bit and give games like Project Diva F 2nd a chance. Of course, that’s a message that we at Segalization can get behind!

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Heading to PS4 and Xbox One

While this news isn’t directly related to Sega, the fact that a highly requested PSP JRPG is being localized is something definitely worth noting. Today Square-Enix announced that an HD version of the PSP game Final Fantasy Type-0 will be released on the PS4 and Xbox One. Some might remember the #jrpgvita project started by Sony’s Shahid Ahmad, where he asked gamers which JRPG’s they wanted to see localized. Fans of various franchises responded en masse, including the Valkyria Chronicles fans. The PS Vita exclusive Tales of Hearts R was the most requested game, followed by Final Fantasy Type-0 and then Valkyria Chronicles 3.
