Medusa FINAL

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Character Video: Medusa

Another Shin Megami Tensei IV Final character monologue video for you to check out! This feels rather fast after the release of the Krishna video not too long ago. Anyway – we have Medusa, and Atlus’ interpretation of the iconic Greek monster with snakes for a head of hair. She is affiliated with the Polytheistic Alliance. Seems the characters that are going to be introduced here in these videos are all new – which makes sense. But we have less than a week until Final is released in Japan, so you have to wonder who else might receive a video in the few days that are left.

SMT IV Final Krishna

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Character Video Series: Krishna

The Shin Megami Tensei IV Final character video series from Atlus continues with the dapper dude in green: Krishna. He is the leader of the Polytheistic Alliance, a new faction introduced in FINAL, which seeks a coalition between deities in order to subjugate humankind. He is described as selfish and manipulative, and seeks Flynn’s allegiance for his own purposes.

We often see Krishna with the bansuri, a flute that is an important part of the mythology of Krishna in Hinduism.

Like the video on Daguza, this video is an extended monologue series featuring 8-bit-inspired graphics.

The release date for Shin Megami Tensei IV Final (January 10! basically one week left!) is fast approaching. There are many characters who have not received a monologue video; perhaps it’s being received for some of the newer major characters?

The video is below for your viewing. I must say, I wasn’t expecting this voice; he sounds quite young.

Chain Chronicle x Valkyria Chronicles - Imca

Valkyria Chronicles X Chain Chronicle: Also Featuring Imca

Expecting the videos for Welkin and Kurt?

Surprise – it’s Imca! She’s rather popular in her own right, a strong fighter of few words but lots of spirit. One interesting to note about Imca is how all of the blue in her design stands out compared to the rest of the Nameless. Having so much color among a group with a muted outfit is visually appealing, in my opinion.

Hopefully there are no mushrooms to give her any trouble in Chain Chronicle. With her trusty weapon Var in tow, not much should be a problem for her to handle. Anyway, check out the short character video for Imca below.

Yakuza Cafe Nagoshi Yokoyama Pasta

Toshihiro Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama Sample the Yakuza Cafe! Ends March 16!

To promote the release of Yakuza Kiwami and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Yakuza in Japan, Toshihiro Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama visited the Yakuza cafe for its opening day (January 28.) It is a limited-time operation and will close on March 16! The Yakuza cafe is a collaboration project between Sega and Pasta Paradiso Okachimachi Yoshiike, an Italian restaurant in Ueno, Tokyo. The Yakuza cafe itself is located at the Sweets Paradise Shinsaibashi in Osaka.

This Dengeki Online article chronicles the culinary adventures of our two heroes from Sega, who tried out the dishes at Pasta Paradiso. And here’s an image of the different items offered at the cafe, courtesy of Sega of Japan:

Yakuza Cafe MenuThe prices above are for à la carte orders. For ¥1580 you can order a package that includes one of the two food items (first row) or one of the two dessert items (second row,) and one of the drinks (last row.)

The bottom segment is for drinks – the items with an orange circle marker are non-alcoholic, and the ones with a purple circle marker are alcoholic. Better keep Haruka away from those.

Kiryu’s dish is a pasta Arrabbiata dish, and Nishiki’s dish is a baked chicken dish, both of which are apparently quite spicy. I don’t mind spicy things, as long as it’s not too spicy – I can’t stand the hotter peppers, Sriracha sauce, and anything that’s generally “very hot.” The desserts are a strawberry parfait for Haruka and a soufflé cheesecake for Majima.

Those who dine in will also receive limited-edition Yakuza character-themed coasters and stickers as they are available.

New Phantasy Star Online 2 Episode 4 Reborn Trailer

Sega has uploaded a new trailer for a large 2016 Phantasy Star Online 2 game update – collectively known as Episode 4 Reborn.

New promotional campaigns include a Valentine’s Day theme for the ARKS Lobby, with Valentine’s present boxes containing items (chocolates! Rappies!) littering the lobby. There will also be themed weapons and accessories for this Valentine’s event alongside a new set of Street Style Scratches. The Street Style coincides with the introduction of the new futurist Tokyo world introduced in Episode 4. Besides that, the first trailer introduces some new boss enemies and battle clips (the Summoner is briefly shown off.)

Eagle-eyed readers or fans of Phantasy Star Online 2 may have noticed a slight logo change for Phantasy Star Online 2 in our featured image. The change is being celebrated by Sega as the new year starts and even received its own web commercial video.

Check out the new trailer for Episode 4 Reborn below!

Chain Chronicle X Valkyria Chronicles - Alicia

Valkyria Chronicles X Chain Chronicle Crossover Trailers! Featuring Alicia and Riela

The Valkyria Chronicles series (specifically, strategy RPG titles) is crossing over with the Japanese version of Chain Chronicle. Chain Chronicle is a popular mobile game series in Japan and is even receiving its own anime adaptation. Valkyria Chronicles characters will be featured as selectable units for the game. Sega Networks has produced two short trailers for Alicia and Riela, two of Valkyria’s heroines, fairly popular in their own right, and both of whom are Valkyria.

The global version of Chain Chronicle will be shutting down by the end of February, so sadly there isn’t any chance that this content will be made available outside of the Japanese version.

Wondering where Welkin and Kurt are? You can probably expect to see them in the near future…It seems their cards are ranked slightly lower than the heroines’ cards, though! In any case, check out the trailers below. The original seiyuu have returned to voice their characters.

Valkyria Chronicles Remaster Trailer: Characters

The gang’s all here!

Sega of Japan has released a very brief character trailer for Valkyria Chronicles Remaster, leading up to its February 10 release. It runs through Alicia, Welkin, Isara, Faldio, Cordelia, Maximilian, and Selvaria. Covers most of the major characters, but leaves out some of the Squad 7 members and Drei Stern. I’m personally happy that Alicia was featured first – I think it makes sense given the events of the story, and I have always wished that she was the face of the series rather than Selvaria, even if unofficially so. Though I understand that Selvaria’s background makes her popular. Selvaria, along with characters like Faldio (!) and Alicia, also have major impacts on the unfolding of story events.

In any case, it is nice that these news updates are being reflected through Sega of Japan’s social media and official Valkyria Project portal site.

In case you missed it somehow, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is coming to the West in Spring 2016! Keep an eye out for more information on the game’s release.

Full Yakuza 6 Demo Segment in HD from Recent Sega Livestream

Sega recently posted the full Yakuza 6 demo segment from their recent niconico stream to their Ryu ga Gotoku YouTube channel. There are a handful of battle segments and dialogue scenes, and this HD capture allows the viewer to really take in what a Yakuza experience with opponents plus lifebars and the new camera adjustments might be like for this new entry. Of course, we have to stress that Nagoshi has stated that this doesn’t represent the finished product, but clearly Sega wants to try new things with Yakuza 6.

So, with a crisper look at the footage – tell us what you think!
