Legend of Legacy Avalon

The Legend of Legacy EU Release Date: February 5, 2016

NISAmerica has recently announced a release date of February 5, 2016 for The Legend of Legacy, the 3DS turn-based RPG developed by FuRyu. Both physical and digital copies will be available for purchase. The game came out in North America a couple of weeks ago, if you weren’t aware (I have my copy, and started the game by choosing Bianca!)

NISAmerica also uploaded their own version of a character introduction trailer to their YouTube channel. This one features Bianca and Meurs. Functionally, it’s the same as what we’ve seen before, as it shows you clips of a character walking around, some battle scenes, and a couple of character-specific cutscenes. You can check it out after the break.

The official blog for Gamers posted some preview shots of their testament to the series, which will take up an entire floor of the store. I’ve attached a small preview gallery (which can be individually enlarged) below to this article; however I do encourage you to check out the blog post itself to see more of the work that was put into this exhibit! And of course if you can find your way to Akihabara before November 3rd when the Museum is over…you know what to do.

DFCI Zero

New Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition Support Characters Announced

Dengeki Online revealed a couple of new support characters for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition. Pictured above is Zero, from Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu. She’s a witch, and it looks like the particular support attack she’s using can cover a lot of space.

DFCI IriyaThis is Iriya from Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu. While just an awkward high school girl on the surface, she’s also the skilled pilot of a special jet that helps her to defend the Earth from aliens. Wonder what her support technique does…

DFCI TomoAnd lastly is Tomo Asama from Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. She is a Shinto priestess and adept with the bow and arrow. Incidentally, she isn’t a main character – it makes you wonder if someone else may show up from this series in the future.

Remember that the special livestream for Uiharu in Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is coming up tomorrow! The Dengeki Online article linked above has got the links you need towards the bottom of the article.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition comes out in Japan for Vita, PS4, and PS3 on December 17th. This latest iteration of Fighting Climax already out in arcades.

Genei Ibun Roku #FE Barry

New Genei Ibun Roku #FE Character Trailers – Mamori and Barry

Nintendo has published some new character trailers for Genei Ibun Roku #FE ahead of its upcoming late-December release in Japan (Western territories will see the game next year.)

Mamori, voiced by Kaori Fukuhara, is a sweetheart character and looks up to the main character in an “older-brother” sort of way, but such a relationship can be blurred over time. Barry is a lovable goof who punctuates many of his sentences with hot-blooded passion and the occasional dash of English. This might feel like a starkly different take compared to some of the taciturn characters that Yuichi Nakamura (hello Kurt Irving!) is known for.

Stella Glow “Harbingers” Trailer

AtlusUSA has released a new trailer for Stella Glow’s upcoming North American release.

This trailer focuses on the “Harbingers.” In some Japanese RPG’s you will see a group of antagonists, all with different personalities, who serve the main villain and whose often main purpose is to obstruct your progress and support the main villain. That is the role that the Harbingers serve here, as servants of the evil witch Hilda. The Harbingers are the bloodthirsty Dante, pompous and bratty Dorothy, and the dour and fatalistic Hrodulf.

Kiryu Figma 2016

Kazuma Kiryu Figma Test Model Images

YakuzaFan recently posted an entry featuring Masayoshi Yokoyama (Yakuza series producer) and a prototype Kiryu figma. This past summer we saw the announcement of a Goro Majima figma too, so it looks we’ll probably be seeing both of their figmas sometime next year, ideally in the earlier part of the year (although Kiryu’s figma will definitely be ready first.)

The above is Max Factory’s test model and it is still subject to any sort of change in the future. However, production seems to be moving along smoothly and Sega’s Japanese Yakuza Twitter account definitely seems on board with the project. It’ll be cool to see how this turns out!

SMT IV Final Krishna

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final Full Website Debut

Atlus has given their Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final website a full unveiling. It’s actually a pretty unique presentation; there are some cool touches here. Some of you may have seen long, scrolling webpages before, but each section has their own background, and everything after the Concept section features animated backgrounds. Each character also has a short trailer attached next to them, in addition to some battle demos. There’s no music available on the site, but that may change later. The buttons available towards the bottom of the site allow you to preorder the game through an assortment of retail outlets.

The core of the story is as follows: the war between gods (Merkabah of Law, and Lucifer of Chaos) in Tokyo is devastating the city, and the arrival of Krishna who represents a path of polytheism seems set to only escalate the destruction. You, as the protagonist and member of the counter-demon group Outlaw Hunters, are killed by a stray demon one day but later receive the power to summon them after forging a contract with Daguza while in the underworld. With this power, you may grow into someone who can change the current path of events.

So…what will you do? This epic could be pretty sweet!

“Valkyria of the Blue Revolution” Trademarked – Something New for Valkyria Chronicles?

Sega Games recently filed a trademark for “Valkyria of the Blue Revolution”.

Let’s just get this out of the way – this is Valkyria Chronicles related, and even as someone who gets too happy with his predictions, every gambling person should be comfortable with betting on this. Between the structure of the trademark title (juxtaposed with the franchise being known in Japan as “Senjou no Valkyria”) and the fact that Sega is filing the trademark, we more or less know what to expect.

We’ve seen trademarks be filed and not used, but I don’t recall one for a game that wasn’t developed at all (outside of the ones that Bandai Namco likes to file to hide the title of a new Tales series game.)

It’s a move that’s both unexpected and expected, in my opinion. As many of our readers probably already know, the PC port of the first Valkyria Chronicles game sold quite well and Sega has publicly expressed their happiness with its commercial performance. At the same time, it’s not been clear what direction the series would go after that port, and the third game is still yet to be localized. On top of this, we don’t know what sort of game would come next for the series – a remake? A new universe/sub-series or spinoff (similar to what we see in Phantasy Star or Yakuza?)

Nevertheless, it’s welcome. Valkyria Chronicles is a series that has, in its own way, made a small impact on many gamers and as a newer franchise has successfully maintained mindshare as a modern great. It very much deserves to live on.

Now, we wait. Let’s hope for something exciting!

Yakuza 5 English Localization Back on Schedule, Comments on Release Window

It’s been a while since we’ve heard updates on Yakuza 5‘s localization. Sega of America recently took to their blog to offer some words on its progress. It turns out that the localization team encountered a particularly strange type of text replacement issue with the game’s script, forcing them to pore through the game’s source code. Having since rectified the issue, the localization is back on track.

When the blog entry was initially posted, it mentioned a possible release window of mid-November (hoping to avoid the release date of December 31st suggested on some preorder venues) and was reported on such outlets as Gematsu. That suggestion has since been removed from the Sega blog post, which now reflects a promise to share more details as they become available.

Sega fansite Sega Nerds contacted Sega to ask for a comment on why the release schedule had been removed. We’ve reproduced the comments from Sega Nerds’ writeup below:

However, soon after it was published, the post was edited, removing any mention of the mid-November release window. We reached out to SEGA and received some clarification for why it was removed.

SEGA PR rep John Hardin explained that the release date was removed because SEGA was worried people would take the language too specifically and that it would be able to release Yakuza 5 in that time frame if everything goes to plan.

He reiterated that SEGA still hopes to release the game in mid-November but is non-committal on the date.

So at the moment, it appears there isn’t much else to say about the release window for Yakuza 5. We should find out more in the future.
