7th Dragon III Code: VFD Agent Trailer

The new 7th Dragon III Code: VFD character class trailer showcases the Agent. They’re people of many talents. They can lay traps, inflict status ailments, and use their gunplay to attack from a distance. A central theme of the Agent class is the ability to “hack” – allowing them to debilitate their enemies with debuffs and passive attacks. They certainly make it look cool; dressed in their snazzy outfits, they can also take over a satellite and command it to fire a massive laser at your enemies. I guess this is why studying computer science is such a big deal nowadays. Be nice to your fellow nerds, everyone.

Project X Zone 2 Preview Leaks Shenmue’s Ryo Hazuki

Japanese media outlet Gamestalk recently reported on the leak of a handful of Project X Zone 2 characters found in screenshots of a Korean preview of the game. While small in number (only three characters,) the reveals themselves were pretty major – especially the reveal of Shenmue‘s Ryo Hazuki, found in the image above. The other characters that were leaked were immediately confirmed as Solo Units, but Ryo’s status is still up in the air – no sprite of him was shown anywhere in the screenshots.

It’s pretty difficult to predict whether or not Ryo will be part of a pair or a Solo Unit. In my opinion it wasn’t all that radical of an idea to see Ryo included in the game (even if Shenmue III were never announced,) considering many of the classic characters that have been featured in Project X Zone and Project X Zone 2 as it is. But while Project X Zone has used Pair Units to represent relatively inactive franchises (a category to which Shenmue no longer belongs, thankfully!) the questions are: who would Ryo be paired with, and which other Pair Units are still likely to arrive? There is no Valkyria Chronicles team that is publicly known, for one.

In any case, hopefully we will know everything about the roster over the course of October, since Project X Zone 2 releases in Japan on November 11.

Legend of Legacy Filmia

The Legend of Legacy Demo Available on North American eShop

Yesterday a demo for the Atlus-localized and FuRyu-developed The Legend of Legacy hit the Nintendo 3DS eShop for North American users. The demo is 2328 blocks, and isn’t advertised under the demo section – the best way to find the game is to search through the eShop catalog. Be sure to check it out! You can choose any character, and the demo allows you to check out the prologue and the first two dungeons of the game. Additionally, if you maintain a save file while playing through the demo, the progress that you do make (albeit with story and leveling caps attached to it) will be transferable to the full game.

Additionally, the last three remaining trailers for the game’s cast have also come out. Owen is the Mercenary, the expert combatant. Eloise is the Alchemist, a woman who is pursuing eternal youth. Then there’s Filmia, the Frog Prince, who seeks to claim a kingdom that is his. I’m not sure who exactly would be in his way, because he seems to be a pretty popular character online!

The Legend of Legacy releases in North America on October 13, with a Q1 2016 release window set for Europe.

Sonia Shining Resonance Blade Arcus

Blade Arcus from Shining EX Extended Trailer

Sega has put out a new trailer that summarizes Blade Arcus from Shining EX. This four and a half minute video offers a quick glance at the roster and certain features of the game, including its Story Mode and its Training Mode. The Training Mode show button inputs as is customary for fighting games, and the Story Mode features visual-novel type interactions.

Though it took quite some time, we finally have gameplay footage of Shining Resonance‘s Sonia in action! We only see her fighting for a couple of seconds, but I guess it’s something! She’ll be available for first print copies of the game; no word on if she’ll be made available through alternative methods (paid DLC.)

Blade Arcus from Shining EX is the first foray into consoles for this series of fighting games. It remains to be seen if it will be localized.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s English Adachi and Marie Trailers

The Playstation Vita title Persona 4: Dancing All Night‘s North American release is only a week away, and Europe’s release is two weeks from now! As was the case with the Japanese release of the game, the extra characters Adachi and Marie will be available as paid DLC options at $4.99 apiece. Two people with unwieldy personalities, but maybe there’s something to love underneath all of that! Remember that they’re only available for play in the game’s Free Dance Mode (the same situation as Margaret,) and not the story scenarios for Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

Shenmue III Paypal Option Available – Another Chance to Assist With Development

While the Kickstarter for Shenmue III is concluded and development is underway, YsNet is still accepting additional financial contributions to assist with the development of Shenmue III. Titled the Slacker Backer Campaign, contributions here will be added to the Kickstarter total accumulated this past summer and will be collected via PayPal.

A nice feature of this campaign is that there are preorder bonuses attached to this campaign (albeit not exactly all of the same ones as before.) If for example you missed out on preordering a physical copy at $60, that’s an option here. There are English and Japanese campaign links for those who are interested. As of this article’s writing, there are exactly 100 days left to contribute. The backer count (from the time of the Kickstarter to now) is inches away from 70,000. Many Stretch Goals from before still exist, but it’s most likely that YsNet will only develop features as they track with expected donation levels, so if you’re looking for more interesting features from Shenmue III you know what to do.

There is also a new FAQ section at the bottom of the Slacker Backer pages that may offer some notes for your interest.

Additionally, I’d like to take a moment to ask our readers to consider supporting the remastering of previous Shenmue titles on avenues such as gaming forums and social media. While Shenmue III will feature some materials that can help newcomers more readily immerse themselves into the franchise, playing the first two games directly is an incomparable experience. And isn’t it desirable to spread the chance to play the games in the Shenmue franchise, at least to try them out, with as many people as possible? Shenmue is a property that Yu Suzuki, the parties involved in development (for all games,) the fans, and Sega can be proud of.

Persona 5 Animation Project Announced

Atlus has announced an animation project for Persona 5. It appears to be a short movie rather than an extended TV anime series. Much like the announcement of the Ace Attorney animated series, details are pretty limited right now.

Some may be bewildered by the announcement of an animation project before the game itself has come out, but this isn’t unheard of. Sega’s Hero Bank is one example, where news of the animation surfaced shortly before the first game’s release. And besides, Persona is a prominent series for Atlus and surely they plan on making Persona 5 similarly as popular as Persona 4 is.

Additionally, the opening theme has been more fully revealed with a teaser at a recent Persona stage event at TGS. The artist behind the song is Lyn, and a video capturing footage of the event (after the break) shows off a verse and a chorus of the song. It’s pretty nice!

Persona 20th AnniversaryThere is also a special 20th anniversary project for the Persona series in the works, but not much else is known at the moment.

Project X Zone 2 TGS Trailer (No New Characters Announced So Far)

Bandai Namco’s TGS stream showed off a new trailer for Project X Zone 2. A decent amount of the footage is recycled, but we do see some new things like Hibana and Leanne’s cut-ins for their Solo attacks. And, there is Segata Sanshiro, love him or hate him (the second option isn’t allowed, though.)

Check it out after the break. The latter portion of the trailer after the logo cut-in shows off limited edition goods that are currently only announced for Japan at this time. However, the roster is certainly not completely announced yet – check out the franchise list and the “and more…” message at the trailer’s end.
