Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker – First Print Bonuses, Livestream Planned

Gematsu reports that first-print copies of Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker will include quite the assortment of additional spoils: a CD soundtrack featuring arrangements of in-game tracks and a set of decals (featuring the Protagonist, his classmate Io Nitta and friend Daichi Shijima, and the logo for the mysterious JPs organization) all stuffed into a larger collectible box. The contents are laid out in the image above.

Additionally, Atlus USA is planning a livestream of Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker on March 11th at 2:30 P.M. Pacific Time on their Twitch.tv channel. Readers may already know that Atlus USA has streamed other games like Etrian Mystery Dungeon before. The stream will show off the Triangulum arc, which is the additional story arc taking place after the “main game” that is the “Septentriones” arc. So, beware of spoilers!

Phantasy Star Online 2 in South East Asia Receiving Episode 2 Content

MMOCulture writes that Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 2 recently launched in South East Asia. The game’s SEA website features a news post with new content that is available in the second episode. This includes new quests, a new race (Deuman), a new character class (Samurai) and a host of other gameplay tweaks like raising main and sub class level caps to 60 and 40, respectively. New enemies and weapons not found in the “first episode” will also be introduced.

I would suggest that readers take a look at the main SEA website. It contains monthly Event and Scratch item listings, alongside dates for server maintenance. I think this serves as a good reference point for communication with one’s client base. The PSUBlog offers similarly detailed info (and covers a variety of related topics, beyond strictly looking at PSO2 operations) but the SEA website is still interesting to see.

There is still no word on Western release of Phantasy Star Online 2.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon: English Ninja Trailer, Atlus USA Livestream Archived Footage

This week, Atlus USA put out a character class trailer for the Ninja class. Ninjas attack quickly, can inflict debilitating status ailments, and make use of a variety of tricky techniques to give themselves an edge over opponents. The substitution technique “Decoy” allows them to counterattack while taking no damage. They’re here to win – don’t mess with them.

As usual, Atlus’s #EMDMysterybox promotion is continuing, so share the video on Facebook and Twitter if you want to participate.

What’s not usual is that Atlus USA recently live-demoed Etrian Mystery Dungeon for an hour. Technically they demoed it once before on a previous occasion, so this week’s writeup is really more just a little less “usual” than the typical weekly class trailers. But you get the picture.

Continue reading to check out the Ninja trailer, the Ninja class description, and the archived footage (placed on YouTube) of Atlus USA’s live demo! The footage lasts for about an hour, so avoid trying to watch this at work. There are better ways to indulge your wild side.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon: Japanese First Print Bonuses

Etrian Mystery Dungeon’s release date in Japan is March 5th. As of this article’s writing, that day in Japan has already arrived and interested customers are now able to pick up the game. Earlier this week, Siliconera produced an article on what additional spoils Japanese gamers could expect to find if they pick up a first print copy of Etrian Mystery Dungeon.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon - Marukatsu Super FamicomThe bonus this time is a “new” publication of the Marukatsu Super Famicom magazine. Marukatsu Famicom was a prominent videogame magazine line in Japan run by publisher Kadokawa Shoten. Publication for the series was discontinued during the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo era. And so, first print bonuses of Etrian Mystery Dungeon will feature 52 pages of artwork and information on the game, presented in the form of a Marukatsu Super Famicom magazine. Also included is a music CD featuring six tracks from the crossover title, tucked away inside the magazine.

A video showing off the spoils was also uploaded to Atlus of Japan’s YouTube account. Continue reading to check it out!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night Yu Narukami Trailer

Atlus’ Japanese YouTube channel recently uploaded the Persona 4: Dancing All Night trailer for Yu Narukami – The MC Himself. This trailer came out unexpectedly fast, considering the Rise trailer was uploaded earlier this week, but…no complaints from me.

No additional costumes in this trailer, but we do get a dual-performance cameo from Yosuke. As was probably expected, Daisuke Namikawa reprises his voice role as Yu.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon: English Hexer Trailer

Atlus USA released this week’s character class trailer. It’s the Hexer, and if utilized right a Hexer can put the fear into your enemies. Or confuse them, render them immobile, poison them – Hexers specialize in debuffing your enemies, crippling them and making them more vulnerable. It can sometimes be a more helpful approach than just simply attacking an enemy with strong spells or physical blows.

Of course, the #EMDMysterybox promotion is also continuing, so if you want to participate share the video on Facebook or Twitter.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night Rise Kujikawa Trailer

Atlus has produced a trailer for Persona 4: Dancing All Night centered around the pop idol Rise Kujikawa. The trailer features several voiced lines from Rise and a mix of dialogue and groovy gameplay. Viewers also get to see a handful of character costumes, too. It’s fairly likely that individual trailers for other characters are due in the future, so these should be interesting to see.

Gematsu, when publishing an article about this new trailer, also linked to a version of the trailer with English subtitles, which we’ll reproduce after the break. It’s a little more than a minute long. Be sure to check it out! The game has not been given a concrete release date in North America, but it is still tentatively scheduled for this year.

Yakuza Zero: Special Sony Walkman, Demo Footage

Pictured above is the Yakuza Zero-themed A Series of the Sony Walkman. Push Square writes that Sony is producing these special Walkmans to help celebrate the Yakuza series’ 10th anniversary in Japan. A product page for the Walkman is already open and Sony is taking preorders. It is another item in what’s becoming a substantial list of instances of Sony showing support for Sega properties in Japan. Most recently, we wrote about limited edition Yakuza Zero-themed Playstation 4 consoles being offered in Japan. It’s truly a remarkable sign of the times.

The “Walkman” name has long been a part of Sony’s product history (sometimes as a mobile phone! though the Walkman-branded phones are now discontinued) but it is probably most well known for being an iconic name in portable music players before the advent of the iPod. The Walkman was the first portable music player released for mass consumption. It’s still iterated upon and is now present in the form you see above. Just by quick research of my own, some notable A-series features include the expansion of memory by using an SD card, and the ability to play FLAC and .wav files (which Apple’s iTunes doesn’t properly support.)

Buying this will set you a back a cool ¥29,980. You may want to put in some time with the Tojo Clan to secure this one! If you purchase one of these Walkman devices from Sony, it does come preloaded with a selection of tunes from the Yakuza series, which you can check out on Sony’s product page linked above.

In other news, a Japanese demo for Yakuza Zero is out on the PSN store, for both Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 users. It’s been out since last week and is exclusive only to those who already have Playstation Plus, but the demo will be available to non-subscribers at a later date according to this Gematsu article. The demo features the first hour and a half or so of Kazuma Kiryu’s scenario. There is video footage of the demo posted after the break captured by a generous gamer; it’s an hour and ten minutes long, so get a drink or two ready!
