An English-Subtitled Version of the 15-Minute Yakuza Zero Trailer

A writer for Kotaku East translated the 15-minute Yakuza Zero trailer that came out during this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The translated version of the trailer is watchable only in a player embedded on Kotaku’s website, so be sure to check out the video at this link. This translated video should allow for more insight for English speakers into the drama of Yakuza Zero. While the article itself is a couple of days old, personally I would like to pass it on for those who are not aware of this translation’s existence. We do not advertise any of our sourced sites.

The author of the linked Kotaku post would like to offer this note on his translations for those viewing the video. This text is a copy-paste from the Kotaku article itself:

Note: With no script or Japanese subtitles, I had to work from audio alone, and some of the actors have heavy accents. While I did my best to be as accurate as I could, some of the translations may not be 100% accurate.

Phantasy Star Nova Revised Demo Officially Announced by Sega Japan

Last week, media outlets and fansites covered Sega’s announcement of planned changes to the Phantasy Star Nova gameplay experience based on weeks of feedback from their first gameplay demo. Sega Japan’s Twitter account officially announced the new, retooled demo’s release on PSN for November 13th, and noted the new demo on the Phantasy Star Nova Japanese website. The older demo has already been taken down.

Gematsu summarizes this new demo by saying it will allow players to experience the opening segments of the game, cinematics and gameplay combined. The PSUBlog notes that character creation will be an option in this demo (unlike the previous version,) and that players will be able to transfer certain content into the full game by maintaining a save file for the demo. The demo will take up 1.9 gigabytes of space, and may not necessarily reflect the final Phantasy Star Nova gameplay experience.

Phantasy Star Nova hits Japanese stores on November 27th. Credit for the featured image goes to Sega Japan’s Twitter posting announcing the new demo, linked above.

Yakuza Zero Japanese Release Date: March 12, 2015

SegmentNext writes that in a recent livestream, Yakuza series creator and producer Toshihiro Nagoshi revealed that the prequel title Yakuza Zero (subtitle: The Place of Oath) will be released in Japan on March 12, 2015. The game offers players the choice to play as Kazuma Kiryu or Goro Majima through individual story campaigns meant to offer more insight into these popular characters’ pasts.

As far as the release date is concerned, Yakuza Zero releases two weeks earlier than Sword Art Online: Lost Song for the PS3 and within a two week range earlier than Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, and Disgaea 5 for PS4. Right now there doesn’t seem to be any competition that may eat into Yakuza Zero’s potential.

When Sega allowed the public to try out demos of Phantasy Star Nova this past summer, they mentioned that they planned to take in feedback and possibly make changes based on what players reported to them. The changes are listed in the most recent post (dated 2014.10.21) under the psnova site’s Info section, but Gematsu has translated the changes for easier reading. I’ll provide some of the more general user experience changes here after the “Read More” button.

Shining Resonance

Shining Resonance Promotional Movie

Sega recently uploaded a new Shining Resonance video to their YouTube channel. Described as a Promotional Movie, it showcases most of the game’s major characters, including party members and the game’s antagonists. Each character utters a line when introduced in the movie and his/her voice actor is also listed. The Promotional Movie makes a point to highlight battle footage, and interestingly shows some of the first footage of the Drag Machina (Princess Excella’s three dragon attendants) in battle.

Shining Resonance will be released in Japan on December 11, 2014. The four-minute video can be viewed by clicking the “Read More” link for this article.

Siliconera earlier this week wrote an article about this week’s issue of Famitsu and its coverage of Etrian Odyssey II Untold, detailing a handful of helpful new details.

First, newer players to the Etrian Odyssey franchise may be interested in the return of Picnic Mode from the first Untold game. It’s designed to be a low-difficulty setting for the game that you can choose once you start your playthrough, and in Picnic Mode enemies will deal lower damage than they do at standard difficulty. If your party is wiped out, you can also continue from that point instead of being forced to restart.
