Yakuza Series Reaches 7.5 Million in Global Sales

Congratulations to Sega! Yakuza series will be ten years old this year (original Japanese release was on December 10th) and the franchise has sold 7.5 million in total global sales, according to Gematsu and Games Talk. This is a good milestone considering those of us outside of Japan have missed a few entries and are now catching up with Yakuza 5. It’s a strong property for Sega in Japan overall. Meanwhile, Yakuza 0 has sold 500,000 copies in Japan and Asia territories since March 12th.

Atlus Localizes The Legend of Legacy

Atlus have announced that they will bring FuRyu’s 3DS RPG The Legend of Legacy to North America and South America sometime in Fall 2015. The game will be available for retail and eShop. Atlus has offered their own detailed summary of the game, which you can view at this link.

Legend of Legacy is a turn-based RPG set on the island of Avalon where seven adventures explore for personal reasons, until they discover a singing stone that causes them to unravel the island’s forgotten and dark history. You can choose from each of the seven adventurer’s story perspective, and the combat features a “classless” customized party formation system.

The Legend of Legacy is developed by veteran RPG staff which many have done work on previous Square-Enix titles. This include SaGa designer Kyoji Koizumi, Final Fantasy XIII composer Masashi Hamauzu, SaGa illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII writer Masato Kato, and the game is directed by Masataka Matsuura from 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.

Players will enjoy gameplay adjustments based on feedback of the original Japanese release. Atlus has not shared what will change, but we will be sure to give you an update about it.

You can check out the English website here. The site is still fresh, but you can enjoy English screenshots of the game.

New Persona 4: Dancing All Night Trailer featuring the Un-bear-lievable Teddie

It is time again for a new character trailer for Persona 4: Dancing All Night, introducing the “mascot”-esque Midnight Channel dweller, Teddie. He spent a majority of his time wearing a cartoon bear costume as he fought alongside Yu and the investigative team in the series. During the events of the original game he became overwhelmed by his insecurity centering around his identity, as well as his inability to remember anything about who he really is. Eventually he got his answers, after which he started using his human form when not in battle.

In Dancing All Night, Teddie’s costume is now in a disco motif. Meanwhile, he puts on a cape and crown for his human form. He dances surprisingly well for somebody in a bear suit, but he’s even more graceful outside of one. Human Teddie dances in a jovial mood and puts on a beary good show. As seen in the trailer, Teddie has a wide array of outfits you can use. Bear Teddie can dress up as a reindeer, his General “M.Bison” style suit from Persona 4 Arena and a happi (festival outfit). Human Teddie can dress in his famous “Alice” crossdressing outfit.

More Characters Announced For Project X Zone 2

The latest news on Project X Zone 2 has been announced in this week’s Famitsu as the magazine revealed newcomers and returning characters for the crossover strategy game.

  • SEGA
    • Sakura Wars:  Gemini Sunrise and Sakura Shinguji
    • Streets of Rage:  Axel Stone
  • Capcom
    • Ace Attorney:  Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey
    • Street Fighter:  Ryu and Ken
  • Namco
    • God Eater 2:  Nana Kazuki and Ciel Alencon
    • Summon Night 3:  Aty

With Gemini and Sakura back, that means all four Sakura Wars characters returned for the sequel. Newcomer Axel Stone is a nice inclusion. Streets of Rage characters do not have many cameo appearances. Sega certainly tried to revive the series over the years at least. Same can be said about Summon Night series, it’s a low profile franchise for Namco to use in crossovers.
