Dengeki Online’s 10/28 Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition Livestream Archive

Missed the recent livestream for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition? It’s fine – Dengeki Online have uploaded the stream footage to their YouTube account. The stream clocks in at around a hefty hour and a half! But, you’ll want to be aware that most of the footage features discussion from the panelists or skits.

The stream is notable for featuring the first gameplay footage of Kuroko Shirai, the newly-announced playable character for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition. You can see her at the 38:20 mark and the 1:04:50 mark (and the two matches that follow directly after this.) It’s an opportunity to glean a little more insight into how she might play as a character.

Check out the footage at around the 28-minute mark (the first instance of gameplay footage being demoed,) and you’ll notice a new stage. It’s the SeHaGaga Academy from Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls! It’s the central location for all of the SeHa Girls’ shenanigans in the anime series that aired last year, and features a number of Sega-related shoutouts. I think NiGHTS floating around is a cute touch, but I personally just like NiGHTS.

New Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition Support Characters Announced

Dengeki Online revealed a couple of new support characters for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition. Pictured above is Zero, from Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu. She’s a witch, and it looks like the particular support attack she’s using can cover a lot of space.

DFCI IriyaThis is Iriya from Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu. While just an awkward high school girl on the surface, she’s also the skilled pilot of a special jet that helps her to defend the Earth from aliens. Wonder what her support technique does…

DFCI TomoAnd lastly is Tomo Asama from Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. She is a Shinto priestess and adept with the bow and arrow. Incidentally, she isn’t a main character – it makes you wonder if someone else may show up from this series in the future.

Remember that the special livestream for Uiharu in Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is coming up tomorrow! The Dengeki Online article linked above has got the links you need towards the bottom of the article.

Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING Climax Ignition Coming to JPN Arcades Next Week

While previously only given a release window of “Summer 2015”, Sega has officially announced that Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX Ignition will arrive in Japanese arcades on July 28, which is next week. It’s rather sudden, but the sooner the better. Were a console version to come out, you’d want the space between releases to be pretty noticeable. And considering that Blade Arcus from Shining EX is coming to Japan late November, it’s better not to have the two compete or be all that close to each other. Maybe the playerbase doesn’t have much overlap, but you ideally don’t want your game to have to compete with hype from another fighter. Fighting games ideally want consistent customers, and people only have so many hours in a day.

It remains to be seen what will happen with this version in the West!

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax IGNITION’s Last Location Test Concluded Today

For those wanting to keep up on developments regarding DFBC: Ignition in Japan, the official FIghting Climax Twitter account recently noted that it was conducting its last round of location tests at three arcades in Japan today (Wednesday the 15th, Japan time.) So it appears that there aren’t likely to be any more character additions in this iteration of the game (though I think there’s room for more on the character select screen!) As it stands, no ports to any Playstation hardware platforms have been announced yet. Wide release of Ignition will be coming to Japanese arcades later this summer.

Meanwhile, Western release is as of now officially scheduled for Q3 of this year for the original version of Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Adds “Heavy Object” Team

Not long after the announcement of an expanded release and new characters for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, Sega announced another new team that will be coming to the crossover fighter. Quenser Barbotage (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) from Heavy Object will be a playable character, with Froleytia Capistrano (voiced by Shizuka Ito) serving as an assist character. Quenser will be able to summon other characters from his series as part of some of his attacks.

While the Heavy Object franchise currently only exists through light novels and manga, an anime adaptation is coming very soon: October of this year, according to AnimeNewsNetwork! Heavy Object is a military fantasy franchise that centers around the protagonist Quenser, an androgynous young man who is perceptive and strategically creative, as he finds ways to thwart the massive war weapons known as Objects. These Objects are so powerful that conventional wisdom held that humans stood no chance against them, until Quenser and his partner Heivia appeared. Froleytia, the assist character in Fighting Climax, is their commander and she comes from nobility, unlike Quenser.

You gotta love how the Valkyria Chronicles stage is used to show off the Heavy Object characters. It’s definitely fitting.

The expanded release, currently with a tentative title of Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax New, is set to hit Japanese arcades this summer. No plans for the game’s consoles releases are known as of yet. I can’t immediately tell what comes next for the non-arcade releases. The game may see some more new characters though, but we’ll have to wait and see for now.

Blade Arcus from Shining Receiving Expansion, New Characters

It’s been more than a year since Blade Arcus from Shining hit Japanese arcades. With this new year we have the arrival of an expansion of this fighting game and it will be titled: Blade Arcus from Shining Version 2.0. The updated game is coming to Japanese arcades during this summer.

Blade Arcus 2.0 PosterThis is the poster art from the game, found at this sega-mag article. The article also contains a handful of new screenshots to promote the game’s release, so be sure to check it out.

As is customary to expanded releases of fighting games, Blade Arcus is receiving a variety of touches. The character select screen received a visual makeover, and got a little busier with the arrival of four characters from Shining Hearts: Rick Elwood, Rouna Murasame, Urayukihime Hayane, and Dylan Rowen (in the order that they’re introduced in the trailer.) Besides this, the UI during fights received some minor aesthetic changes as well.

Sega also plans other new content for the game, including new stages, balance adjustments to existing characters. New gameplay mechanics named “Rejection Card” and “Reversal Strike” were also announced, but they haven’t been explained as of yet. Seeing as we’re about to head into the summer, it remains to be seen if any other major additions (like more new characters) will be added, but if so, we shouldn’t expect too much considering the existing roster size. Given the size of the current character select screen, assuming most of the elements remain relatively untouched I might guess two to four new characters at most, if the development team is inclined.

In the first version of Blade Arcus’s lifetime, the game never saw a console or Vita release. It’s not entirely clear if such a thing will ever happen; I suppose it’s a possible consideration once the final version of the game comes out.

Continue reading to check out the trailer, recently uploaded to Sega’s YouTube account! It mostly focuses on the newer characters, but it also offers a look into game menus as well.

Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX Receiving Expansion, Emi Yusa Confirmed

Dengeki Online just announced a new iteration of their crossover fighter Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax. As of now, the expanded release is only set for arcades in Japan, and the expansion’s new title hasn’t been publicly announced. However, it is currently set for release this summer. This expanded release will also feature balance adjustments to the existing cast, too.

Topping off the news of this release is the confirmation of a new playable character: Emi Yusa from Hataraku! Maou Sama/The Devil is a Part-Timer. Emi and Sadao Maou’s personalities constantly antagonize each other, to say nothing of their backgrounds as a holy knight and a devil, respectively. But as they are miraculously transported to the real world outside of the world of magic and demons, their powers are limited and their former lives serve as a sort of bonding point, however shaky that bond may be (perhaps it’s actually stronger than we think!) Now Sadao is a little less out of place by himself, and screenshots already do show him as a support character to Emi to reflect both of them representing the same franchise (though players are free to choose their team combinations, you cannot change whether or not they are playable or assist-only.)

Sega published and assisted with development of Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, though the main development forces were French Bread (Melty Blood) and Ecole Software. The game is rife with Sega shoutouts including characters and stages; hopefully we may see some more with this new release. That we’ll see more new characters besides Emi from within Dengeki Bunko is certain.

The article teases a more detailed announcement of this game on May 28th, so expect additional news around that time!
