Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X’s Challenge: “Ultimate Medley”

A special song was revealed in Famitsu this week for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X, and it’s styled as a monumental challenge. Introducing the “Ultimate Medley ~Delusional Suite of Transcendental Finesse~”! If that mountain of syllables for the song title didn’t intimidate you, then perhaps the song list that comprises the medley might be more convincing:

  • “The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku” by cosMo@BousouP
  • “Two-Sided Lovers”by wowaka
  • “Sadistic.Music∞Factory” by cosMo@BousouP
  • “2D Dream Fever” by PolyphonicBranch
  • “The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku” by cosMo@BousouP

There will be “Ultimate” modules for each of the main six Vocaloids to accompany this song. Be sure to check out this Hachima Kikou post for song previews!

Project DIVA Team Celebrates Valentine’s Day With Project DIVA X Video and Wallpaper

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, SEGA has posted a short video on Twitter featuring the song “LOL -lots of laugh-” in Project DIVA X. The song was also featured in earlier Project DIVA games and more recently Project Mirai DX on the Nintendo 3DS. You can watch the video below. Unfortunately the video and more notably the audio quality leaves something to be desired, but it appears to be the only source for the video for now. Aside from that, SEGA also included Valentine Day’s Wallpaper in their latest update on the official SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project website.

There are no separate versions of the wallpaper this time around, and interestingly the characters design uses a cell-shaded style that appears to be somewhat in between that of the Project DIVA games and Project DIVA Arcade. Perhaps this is the kind of style we can expect from the PS4 version of Project DIVA X? We’ll have to wait and see. You can find the full version of the wallpaper below, or by clicking on the featured image of this post!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X will be released on the PS Vita in Japan on March 24, 2016 followed by a release on the PS4 in Fall 2016. There’s been no word yet regarding a release of the game for the West.

The Latest Project DIVA X Update Talks About Character Communication

SEGA of Japan have recently released another update for Project DIVA X, detailing more of the game’s features and also revealing some screenshots of the songs and modules that were revealed in the latest Famitsu.

The “Home” screen shown below is the main starting point for the game’s Live Quest Mode, There, you can spend time talking to one of the Vocaloids featured in the game, and also transition to the” Area Select” screen.

In addition, you can customize the room using a variety of different themes.

As you progress through the game, various events will occur in the Home screen. Meeting certain conditions will unlock Event Quests, and some of these will also be character-specific.

Playing the rhythm game is linked to communicating with your characters. In other words, playing the game will bring you closer to the characters. Increasing your familiarity with the characters will give you small advantages in your quests. One way of achieving that is by giving gifts to your character, which can be obtained by playing the rhythm game. A wide variety of items can be gifted (food, toys, decoration, music, etc.). The reaction you get when you gift the items can range from “not pleased” to “very happy”.

In addition, the events that occur may differ depending on the item. So getting to see different reactions and events involves gifting various items.

Meet certain conditions and a special gift event will occur. The dialogue will give you hints to what the perfect gift is that you need to present to your character. Pick the right one and it will greatly increase your familiarity with the character.

As mentioned earlier, some of the gifts are also decorations that you can use to customize the room in the Home screen.

In our previous articles we talked about how modules are linked to one of the game’s five elements. Interestingly, the module that your character is wearing in the Home screen also influences their behavior and reactions. A “cool” module will have your character behave, you guessed it, in a “cool” way.

The PS Vita’s touch screen is also used here, as you can “poke” the character on the screen. This will also result in a different reaction depending on the module the character is wearing. It appears in the case of the “Chaos” module, your character is not amused.

On to the new screenshots of the rhythm songs and modules!

Solitary Hide & Seek Envy (“Hitorinbo Envii”), by Denpol-P (Element: Cool)

Coward Fighters Urotander (“Hikyou Sentai Urotander”), by Shin-P (Element: Chaos)

Cute Medley – Idol Sounds

This new medley, arranged by Mitchie-M, contains the following songs:

  • Eazy Dance
  • Freely Tomorrow
  • Viva Happy
  • Ageage Again
  • Blooming The Idol (Idol wo Sakase)

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X will be released on the PS Vita in Japan on March 24, 2016 followed by a release on the PS4 in Fall 2016. No Western localization has been announced, but given SEGA of America’s latest efforts in bringing games from Japan overseas, there should be a good chance that this game will make it to the West.
