SEGA of Japan have released a new batch of commercials for their upcoming DVD release for their TV anime Hi-sCool! Seha Girls, which features the SEGA Hard Girls characters Dreamcast, Saturn and Mega Drive. The new batch of commercials also includes other SEGA Hard Girls such as Master System, SEGA Mark III, Robo Pitcher and Mega Drive 2. Aside from the 13 episodes of the anime that were aired on TV, the Japanese DVD release will include a new episode as well which takes place during a Sports Festival. In addition, the DVD release will include 3D character models (chibi and swimsuit versions) of the SeHa Girls which can be used in the program MikuMikuDance, a free animation program. The DVD will be released on November 3 in Japan. Curiously, it doesn’t seem like there will be a Blu-Ray release in Japan.

Home Release of Seha Girls Anime Will Consist of a Blu-Ray and DVD Combo Pack
Anime licensing and publishing company Discotek Media have provided an update for the home release of the Hi-sCool! Seha Girls anime on their Facebook page. While a release date and price weren’t mentioned, what we do know is that the complete series set will be released as a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack. You can also see the preliminary cover art showcasing the three main heroines and cameos from characters of various SEGA games.
Discotek Media licenses Seha Girls and Shining Tears X Wind Anime
Anime licensing and publishing company Discotek Media teased on Facebook back in December about the many series they will license next. After much waiting, they did not disappoint. Anime fans can look forward to home releases for titles such as Free!, the much anticipated return of Robot Carnival and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Discotek have even picked up video game adaptations such as Night Warriors (Darkstalkers), Street Fighter II the Movie and two anime based on Sega properties: Hi-sCool! Seha Girls and Shining Tears X Wind.
Seha Girls aired last fall, featuring moe anthropomorphized Sega consoles. You can read my impressions, the anime should not be missed for long time fans because it showcases many popular Sega games with tastefully done gags. Shining Tears X Wind is an adaptation of both Shining Tears and Shining Wind first aired in 2007. Shining Tears is the only title of the two with a localization, so the anime can help fans enjoy the Japanese only sequel.
Discotek have not shared release dates for both series as well as the other anime being licensed. While they announced Blu-Ray editions for a few anime films, Seha Girls and Tears x Wind may not be in this format.
Hi-sCool! Seha Girls Impressions
Hi-sCool! Seha Girls is an anime adaptation of the Sega Hard Girls series, featuring moe anthropomorphized Sega consoles. The series started as light novels and character cameos for games like Samurai and Dragons and Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. While each of Sega’s consoles and their revisions have been transformed into a character, only Dreamcast, Saturn and Mega Drive appear in the anime (thus far of my 5 episode recap). Sorry Genesis fans, the outrageous American-Texas dressed heroine will have to show up another time.
