Segata Sanshiro and Space Channel 5’s Shadow debut in Project X Zone 2

Sega Saturn enthusiasts rejoice! Famitsu unveiled the latest additions to the Project X Zone 2 roster. The biggest surprise being that Segata Sanshiro has returned to show bad guys who’s boss as a solo unit in Project X Zone 2. Segata Sanshiro was Sega’s masterpiece as far as marketing strategy goes and starred in numerous Sega Saturn commercials, portrayed by Hiroshi Fujioka, as well as his own Saturn title in Japan. Hiroshi Fujioka will also be contributing voice work for Segata Sanshiro in this game too.

Additional characters on Sega’s side of the roster include the return of the Resonance of Fate team. This time around, Zephyr and Vashyron will be the pair unit and Leanne will take the role as a solo unit. Shadow, from Space Channel 5 Part 2, will be an Enemy unit to fight. Normally Ulala and Pudding are the representatives for cameo appearances, so it is nice to see other characters cross over.

You can check out the artwork and screenshots for the Sega characters below at the end of the article!

SEGA 3D Reprint Archives 2 Includes Puyo Puyo 2 and Power Drift!

Famitsu had recently revealed the existence of SEGA 3D Reprint Archives 2, a second collection of SEGA 3D Classics which will be released in retail in Japan. Today, they also revealed that the collection will include 2 new and 2 bonus games which haven’t been released before on the 3DS yet. These include 3D Power Drift, 3D Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, 3D Maze Walker, and 3D Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa!

At the moment it’s not clear if these new games will be heading West. We hope Sega considers releasing them on the Nintendo eShop, like they did with most of the previous 3D Classics games. I also hope they don’t reskin Puyo Puyo 2 if they do end up releasing it, given what happened with Puyo Puyo Quest.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Vanisher and Battle/Dragon Trailers, 1st PV

AnimeNewsNetwork writes that Sega has uploaded two new trailers for 7th Dragon III: Code VFD. The first trailer is for the high-damaging Vanisher class, while the other trailer…is not for a character class but is a system video demoing battles featuring dragons, which are a stronger enemy class than usual. It also showcases the potential of your support teams (the “2nd” and “3rd” sets of three) through their participation in a combination attack. I had guessed there would be two character trailers at a time, but it seems I was wrong (this time!)

Sega has also published the first promotional video for the game, featuring the opening theme song. It’s quite a lengthy production at around three minutes!

The game is set for release on October 15.

Anyway, watch the videos after the break!

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Samurai and Fortuner Trailers

The rollout for character class trailers have begun for 7th Dragon III: Code VFD. This first set contains the Samurai and Fortuner classes. The Samurai is an all-rounder, a straightforward pick-up-and-play class. Pretty modern get-up for a Samurai, I’ll say that. Maybe it’s just like Gemini Sunrise from Sakura Wars says, and it’s all about having the Samurai Soul. Anyway, the Fortuner is slightly less straightforward. They have paper defenses, but have strong debuff capabilities and techniques with great destructive power.

This game has eight classes, so we should expect at least three more sets of trailers for character classes, perhaps with another game system trailer or two along the way. Continue reading to check out the trailers!

Legend of Legacy Liber

Legend of Legacy Character Trailers – Garnet and Liber + Recent Twitch Stream Footage

AtlusUSA’s new character trailer for The Legend of Legacy  shows off two very different personalities. Liber is the Treasure Hunter, a “spirited scavenger with a taste for adventure.” Without a care in the world save for himself, he ventures to Avalon for money. In his battle segments we see him lay waste to enemies with his bow and arrow techniques. As a party member, Liber lends himself to a supporting role. Garnet is the Templar, a “loyal knight of the Holy Order.” Unlike Liber, she is highly committed and not so carefree. Garnet travels to Avalon to weed out those spreading rumors of gods dwelling among the living…but one has to wonder about the details in such situations as these. Garnet’s battle footage show her ramming through enemies with a shield and attacking enemies with a two-handed sword, and as a party member she’s designed to be a balanced fighter.

Additionally, members of AtlusUSA’s PR team streamed themselves playing the game this Wednesday for about an hour and a half. The footage has been uploaded to YouTube. Check it out below if you missed it, or if you’d like a chance to really immerse yourself in the game! If you want a fresh experience, you might not want to watch for too long. Especially if you plan on trying out Garnet’s scenario, which was the one chosen for the stream.

7th dragon iii char creation

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Character Creation Trailer

AnimeNewsNetwork recently noticed that Sega uploaded a video onto their Japanese YouTube channel for 7th Dragon III: Code VFD offering a look into character creation. When creating your characters, you can customize them through:

  • a variety of preset character models
  • choosing from a list of voice sets separated by gender (ANN notes that 40 voice actors and actresses contributed lines for this title!)
  • which “type” they are from (referring to whether they are from Atlantis of the Past, Tokyo of the Present, or Eden of the Future) that affect color changes in the character models
  • one of the eight character classes (of course)

The game is set for release on October 15th in Japan with no word on localization as of yet. ANN describes this title as the last 7th Dragon game in their own writeup.

Mikudayo Videos Celebrate Project Mirai DX’s Localization

Sega have released three videos featuring Mikudayo, a character based on an actual full-body Nendoroid costume of Hatsune Miku. The costume was originally used to promote the first Project Mirai at the Tokyo Game Show 2011, but Mikudayo, as the fans started to call her, gained a cult following and ended up becoming somewhat an alternate character to Hatsune Miku. Noticing her popularity, Sega started to feature Mikudayo in promotional videos for the Project Mirai sequels. The three videos shown below were originally used to promote Project Mirai 2 in Japan, but have now been translated and released via The Crunchyroll Gaming Community on Facebook.

Stella Glow’s New Trailer Reveals “Witch Tuning”

Atlus’s latest Stella Glow trailer shows the game’s “Witch Tuning” mechanic. As you may recall from our previous articles, the story revolves around Alto (the protagonist) teaming up with four witches to stop another witch, Hilda, from destroying the world. The witches have the ability to use Song Magic, but to unlock their full potential Alto has to enter the witches’ hearts to help them overcome their inner fears. This is done through a process called “Witch Tuning”, where Alto enters a spirit world where the witchs’ fears are represented by monsters, which Alto will have to defeat in battle. If he’s victorious, the witch will unlock a new power (in the video, Sakuya acquires the new Song Magic “Song of Flames”). You can watch the video below for more details.

Stella Glow will be released during the holiday season in North America, for the price of $49.99. The European release date is currently set for spring 2016, where NIS America will be publishing the game.

Legend of Legacy Bianca

Legend of Legacy: Bianca and Meurs English Character Trailer

AtlusUSA has begin rolling out English trailers for Legend of Legacy, the turn-based battle RPG set to release in October for North America and in 2016 for Europe. This trailer covers two of the seven main characters that can be chosen before the game begins.

By the way, the music that you hear playing throughout the trailer is one of the game’s battle themes.

Meurs is the Elementalist, a “Traveler with the Spirits as His Guide.” As an Elementalist, Meurs is ventures to Avalon to understand why the elements (fire, wind, water, and darkness) have begun to concentrate in Avalon. Bianca is the Girl With Amnesia, a “Gentle Soul in Search of Her Past.” Soft in demeanor yet strong in spirit, Bianca believes that Avalon holds the answers to her questions about her identity.

You will be given an “initial party” of two companions besides the character you select depending on the character you choose as your main character for the game. Your party can be further customized as you progress through Legend of Legacy. The main character chosen apparently also impacts certain focal points of the story; while all characters will experience events from the main campaign, each character will have certain story experiences of sorts that are specific to them.

The trailer demos the two characters exploring the overworld and some of their attack animations. Watch it after the break!

Project Mirai DX Demo Now Available for NA and EU (UPDATED)

Sega posted a new update on their blog today, announcing that they made a demo of their upcoming rhythm game Project Mirai DX available in the Americas and Europe on the Nintendo eShop. The demo appears to be same as the one Sega released in Japan, as it features the tracks “Senbozakura” and the Project Mirai exclusive track “LOL -lots of laugh-“.

The game will launch in both retail and digital form on September 8 in the Americas and September 11 in Europe. Sega also reminds people that pre-orders and a limited batch of launch copies of the game in the Americas will come with a Hatsune Miku wallet chain and 19 double-sided AR cards. Unfortunately, the blog post doesn’t clarify which version the EU fans will get, but it appears at least some stores are also offering the same limited launch edition.

Update: The EU version only has one use available, while the US version of the demo has 30. We’re waiting for more information from Sega, but we’re assuming this was a mistake and the EU version was also supposed to have 30.
