Atlus Localizes The Legend of Legacy

Atlus have announced that they will bring FuRyu’s 3DS RPG The Legend of Legacy to North America and South America sometime in Fall 2015. The game will be available for retail and eShop. Atlus has offered their own detailed summary of the game, which you can view at this link.

Legend of Legacy is a turn-based RPG set on the island of Avalon where seven adventures explore for personal reasons, until they discover a singing stone that causes them to unravel the island’s forgotten and dark history. You can choose from each of the seven adventurer’s story perspective, and the combat features a “classless” customized party formation system.

The Legend of Legacy is developed by veteran RPG staff which many have done work on previous Square-Enix titles. This include SaGa designer Kyoji Koizumi, Final Fantasy XIII composer Masashi Hamauzu, SaGa illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII writer Masato Kato, and the game is directed by Masataka Matsuura from 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.

Players will enjoy gameplay adjustments based on feedback of the original Japanese release. Atlus has not shared what will change, but we will be sure to give you an update about it.

You can check out the English website here. The site is still fresh, but you can enjoy English screenshots of the game.

Etrian Odyssey II Untold North American DLC Schedule

AtlusUSA recently unveiled their DLC plans for Etrian Odyssey II Untold: The Fafnir Knight, set to come out on August 4. Starting on the week of the game’s release, and every week after that (for three weeks, with the last pieces being added on the last week of August) a couple pieces of DLC will be made available during the month of August every Tuesday.

Some DLC will be available free of charge for the first week it becomes available online. But when a new round of DLC goes online, any DLC that was previously free will then require money to unlock. So for example, a free DLC piece that goes online on August 4 could be free until August 10, and when new DLC goes online on August 11 the DLC was previously free might not be free anymore.

Gematsu recently compiled this DLC schedule, which I will reproduce after the break. Check it out!

Etrian Odyssey II Untold: English Flavio Trailer

Meet Flavio, Ranger/Survivalist and a bottomless well of camaraderie and goodwill. Atlus USA uploaded a trailer introducing waiting gamers to the jovial archer (“The Upbeat Survivalist”, as the trailer stylizes him,) which you can check out after the break. It’ll offer viewers a preview of Flavio’s English voice acting, too.

As a reminder, Flavio as a character is exclusive to the game’s Story Mode, where characters and their classes are fixed. Flavio has the potential to support the team in a variety of ways, including debuffing enemies, revealing chests on the map, and lowering the encounter rate. All the while he will be keeping himself alive with skills that lower the enemy’s accuracy or raise a teammate’s own evasion.

Stella Glow Character Trailers: Sakuya and Mordimort

The Stella Glow Song Magic Ensemble trailers continue with videos for Sakuya and Mordimort. The videos were uploaded to Sega’s Japanese YouTube account not too long ago.

Sakuya is themed after fire, reflected in the red and black color schemes and the volcanic demo stage shown off in her trailer. Reflecting her color scheme, her song is intense though not as peppy as Popo’s song. She’s voiced by Yui Sakakibara.

Mordimort is themed after the element of earth, rounding out the four classical elements. Honestly, I can’t guess much behind the aesthetics or personality of this character. The color choices don’t make me think of the earth element. She doesn’t seem emotionally expressive, which could perhaps be tied into an interpretation of the earth element as something stoic. The song feels mostly simple and bass-driven; I feel the presence of the rhythm more than anything. She’s voiced by Emi Nitta.

Etrian Odyssey II Untold European Release Date: February 12

NISAmerica announced their planned release date for the European Union for Etrian Odyssey II Untold: The Fafnir Knight, the expanded remake of Etrian Odyssey II. The game is scheduled for a February 12 release date in Europe. For reference, the game came out in Japan in late November of last year, while an early August release date is planned for North America.

For our European audience, I can’t help but think that the release date distance is a bit painful. It does feel slightly more palatable than a long and anxious wait where no release date is confirmed for another few months, but on the other hand it’s still a pretty long wait. Hopefully the presence of Atlus games strengthens and becomes more readily localized in the future.

Both a physical and digital copies are planned as purchase options for hopeful gamers.

NISAmerica also produced the trailer for the Protagonist trailer to accompany their announcement. The trailer should be familiar for those who have seen earlier English media coverage of this game. If you haven’t seen it yet, well – DO NOT MISS THIS GREAT CHANCE.

Stella Glow Character Trailers: Popo and Risette

Sega recently released trailers for two of the witch companions in Stella Glow: Popo the Wind Witch and Risette the Water Witch. They are straightforward and comprehensive trailers, showcasing battle and character theme songs. The trailers describe what types of assistance the two witches offer in battle, while also playing the Witch’s theme song in the background.

Stella Glow RisetteRisette, voiced by Yoshino Nanjou seems to have a rather demure personality and her song sounds….tender? Soft? The words escape me at the moment, but I’m sure our readers will understand what I’m talking about. Her song is called “Toward the Legendary Sea”. Popo on the other hand is quite spunky and her song has a little more energy in it, even when it’s mostly “quiet.” She’s voiced by Maaya Uchida and her song is called “The Keys that Rusted Together”.

The Japanese demo is out already, for those interested or who might have the means to acquire the demo. Check out the trailers after the break!

Project Mirai DX Receives Special Launch Edition, Release Delayed Until September

Sega has announced that the release of Project Mirai DX for the Nintendo 3DS, scheduled for May 26 in the US and May 29 in the EU, has been delayed until September. More precisely, the game will be released on September 8 in North America and September 11 in Europe. The game will be made available at both retail stores and through the Nintendo eShop at a price of $39.99. While the delay is unfortunate, Sega does have some good news to share as well, since they will be offering a special physical Launch Edition of the game. However, it’s not clear what the price for this special edition will be, nor is it clear if Europe will be receiving this special edition as well. Here’s the content of the Launch edition as detailed in Sega’s press release:

This launch edition of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX will include the game, premium outer box packaging, and a wallet chain designed after Hatsune Miku’s iconic belt – a simple and stylish way for fans to represent their love for Miku. All copies of the game will include 19 double-sided augmented reality (AR) cards that show off additional dance moves and costumes.

While it’s puzzling to see that Sega waited until a week before the game’s scheduled release to announce a three month delay, it’s at least good to see that the game hasn’t been canceled altogether, and that the physical release is still happening. We hope to learn more from Sega Europe regarding the Special Edition soon.

Stella Glow Demo Coming to Japan

Sega recently announced that Stella Glow, a 3DS RPG from Imageepoch that Sega is publishingi in Japan, will be receiving a demo. And the demo is coming out very soon – May 20th, not long ahead of the game’s June 4th release. Atlus is bringing the game to North America sometime later this year, with no specific release date currently announced. Additionally, demo plans for North America are known as of now.

The demo will allow players to sample the game’s prologue, wherein the evil witch Hilda will clash with the protagonist Alto. From there, Alto’s main mission will involve him recruiting witches to help him stop Hilda’s nefarious plans.

Stella Glow will also very likely be Imageepoch’s swan song, as the company has filed for bankruptcy. It’s been an unfortunate series of events for the company that apparently hasn’t been financially sound for the past couple of years. Gamers were likely first alerted to Imageepoch’s troubling circumstances with the publicized discovery that the company’s CEO had “disappeared.” But before Imageepoch filed for bankruptcy, the company had sought publishers for Stella Glow, and successfully contracted with Sega for publishing duties in Japan.
