Japanese Yakuza 6 Web Commercial

Tomorrow, on December 8th in Japan, Yakuza 6 will be publicly available for purchase in Japan. Ahead of its wide release, SEGA recently uploaded a new minute-long commercial for Yakuza 6 to their YouTube channel.

The commercial showcases the many characters and minigames within Yakuza 6, capturing the variety of elements to be enjoyed in what is being described as Kiryu’s final chapter as the leading protagonist of the Yakuza franchise. It also attempts to capture the multifaceted tones and sense of drama that the Yakuza franchise is known for, from the serious to the outlandish.

If you missed it: this past weekend at Playstation Experience 2016, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Yakuza: Kiwami were confirmed for localization in the West, with details on release schedule to be released at a later date. Anyone remember the days of the Yakuza franchise when people were writing and mailing letters to show support for Yakuza 5′s localization? It seems those moments are long past.

Yakuza 6 - Reality Versus Game Comparison

Yakuza 6: Comparison Between Real Life Photos and In-game Screenshots

We learned before that Onomichi, in the Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan, is a location that you’ll be able to visit in SEGA’s Yakuza 6. Onomichi is a small port town that faces the Seto Inland Sea, and is known for its steep hillsides and historic temples, as well as its “Cat Alley” where one can find 108 stone cats which are scattered across the trail. As is typically the case for Yakuza games, the developers have taken care to faithfully reproduce the town in the game.

The Japanese PlayStation blog has recently posted an article where they talk about the various play spots in Kamurocho and Onomichi that are included in the game. But they also show a comparison between real photos, taken by Dengeki PlayStation, and in-game screenshots from Yakuza 6. The real photos are unfortunately in a very low resolution, but it still provides us with an interesting look at the accuracy with which some of the existing locations have been replicated in the game. You can see the comparisons side-by-side below!  Note that left is the real photo and right is an in-game screenshot.

Valkyria Azure Revolution - Brunhild

New Valkyria: Azure Revolution Character Trailer Introduces Brunhild

SEGA of Japan has released a new character trailer for Valkyria: Azure Revolution, introducing the character Brunhild. As you can notice in the trailer, Brunhilde, a Valkyria, is themed after the Grim Reaper, as she wields a scythe in battle and can sometimes be seen wearing a death mask and black robes. As a Valkyria defending Emperor Claudius and the Rus empire, Brunhild is an enemy to Amleth and his anti-Valkyria Vanargand group. We can see her “Song of Death” incapacitate Amleth’s group in the trailer (a scene also shown if you successfully defeated Brunhild in the second demo), although Ophelia is apparently able to counter it with a song of her own. You can watch the trailer below.
