We’ve conveniently linked to each item, and organized them into separate table categories.
SEGA Reveals First Teaser TV Commercial And PS Vita Boxart for Project DIVA X
SEGA has posted a (very short) teaser TV commercial for Project DIVA X on their Youtube channel. It features the song “First Sound” by almo. You can watch the teaser below. At the same time, SEGA also revealed the boxart for the PS Vita version. As usual, the illustration for the boxart was done by KEI (who also created the original illustrations for the Sega Hard Girls). The Arcade Aime card included as a preorder bonus will be also using the same artwork. You can take a look at them here:
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone Coming to Playstation 4
The SCEJA conference for Tokyo Game Show 2015 has come and gone, and there wasn’t mention of the new Project DIVA title Project DIVA X at that time. However, Project DIVA Future Tone for Playstation 4 was announced after Nagoshi had concluded his presentation.
This is a port of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone originally for arcades. Project DIVA Arcade has actually received many revisions in its time. With Yakuza 6 being released exclusively for Playstation 4, and with other titles like Phantasy Star Online 2 (honored with a brief promotional video throughout the SCEJA 2015 conference) coming to Playstation 4, it appears that Sega is warming up to Playstation 4 exclusivity.
The game will be a digital release, and the release window right now is only specified as sometime in 2016. The announcement trailer can be seen below!
Project DIVA X and More Hatsune Miku News From Magical Mirai 2015
The recent Magical Mirai 2015 event had a playable demo of Project DIVA X available, which allowed the fans to gain a bit more insight in the game’s new features. The random module drops during Chance Time we talked about in an earlier article happen while the song is being played, and not only that, but the characters can actually switch to the new module instantly while the songs is still playing. In the older Project DIVA games, modules were obtained only after the song was finished (either as a reward for meeting certain conditions, or by purchasing them with in-game Diva points). Interestingly, NeoGAF user ATXAlchemy mentioned getting a module drop even when he/she failed the Chance Time.
The Link Scratches from Project DIVA F 2nd apparently weren’t in the demo (although the regular Scratch Notes were). Link Scratches were a controversial addition to F 2nd since they required players to play the song at least once to memorize their rhythm, something which the veterans of the series disliked as it often ruined their attempts to Perfect a song on their first try. It remains to be seen whether or not Sega will be bringing them back in Project DIVA X.
Sega Launches ‘neXt39’ Teaser Website For a New (Project Diva?) Game
Our friends at SEGAbits noted that Sega has launched a new teaser website for an upcoming game. The website shows the text “3939.00 / 3939”, which seems to hint heavily at a Project Diva. Fans of Project Diva and Hatsune Miku will no doubt know the relevance of the number “39”, as those numbers can be read as “mi” (3) and “ku” (9). This means the name of the website can also be read “next miku”. That said, it’s not clear what the uppercase X is hinting at. I find it unlikely that it would hint at an Xbox One version, given how that console is almost irrelevant in Japan. The equation is also likely meant to hint at something, but it’s again unknown at what exactly. Gematsu noted the Tweet from the official Project Diva Twitter, telling people that Sega will have a new project to talk about soon, and hinting for more details to be revealed near the end of August and September.
We’ll be sure to share more details as they become available!
“Big in Japan” EU PlayStation Store Sales Include Plenty of Sega and Atlus Games!
EU gamers felt left out when Sony had a “Golden Week” sale on the US PlayStation Store earlier this year, but Sony has now announced a similar sales initiative named “Big in Japan” for the EU PlayStation Store, which sees a plethora of Japanese games sold at a discounted price for the PS3, PS Vita and PSP. We made a list of all the Atlus and Sega games featured in the sales, together with their new price. Not listed below but perhaps worth noting is that many of the Hyperdimension Neptunia games, a franchise which will receive a crossover game with the SeHa Girls, have been discounted as well. The sales ends on July 7th.
Golden Week on US PlayStation Store Includes Plenty of Sega and Atlus Games!
Sony is celebrating Japan’s national holiday week with a “Golden Week” sale on the US PlayStation store. A ton of Sega and Atlus games are on sale right now, and we compiled the list of their discounted games below (with Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory included as well, given how it’s getting a crossover game with the SeHa Girls). As usual, PlayStation Plus members receive an additional discount. The discounts will be available until 5/05/2015. My thanks go to Kuronoa for helping me compile this list!
Second Batch of April DLC for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd Released in the EU (US Release Delayed)
The next batch of DLC for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd is now available from the PlayStation Store in the EU. However, it seems the US release has been delayed by a week (release now scheduled for the 5th of May), much like what happened to earlier EU DLC releases. That said, the EU DLC appears to be available only for the PS Vita at the moment. It’s unclear whether it will become available later today for the PS3.
