SEGA Europe have uploaded the latest SEGA Central episode to their Youtube channel, which almost entirely consists of an interview with SEGA’s Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man behind the Yakuza series, but also other SEGA games such as Daytona USA, Scud Race and the Super Monkey Ball series. Among other questions, SEGA Central asked Nagoshi about his most memorable moments of the Yakuza series, and also of his entire career in the gaming industry. They also ask if he has a message for the Yakuza fans. You can view the video below!

SEGA & ATLUS Announce Their E3 2016 Line-Up, Including Yakuza 0, Persona 5, 7th Dragon III and Project DIVA X (UPDATED)
SEGA and Atlus have issued a new press release announcing their lineup of the games for this year’s E3. For the first time at this event, SEGA and ATLUS will be sharing a stand on the shown floor, located at West Hall Booth #4810. The only actual SEGA Europe title being shown at the stand is Yakuza 0, which will be playable. While Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice is also playable, the title will be published by Nintendo in Europe. SEGA of America on the other hand will also be showing 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, which sadly hasn’t been confirmed for a European release yet. SEGA’s upcoming Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will apparently not be shown.
UPDATE: Sam Mullen pointed out on Twitter that Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will be present at E3, despite not being mentioned in the press release below! He also confirmed that the game will be playable, as a three song demo of the PS4 version will be present at the stage.
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X Receives PG Rating in Australia, Published by SEGA Europe
Gematsu reports that Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X has received a rating in Australia, suggesting that the game will in fact be released there. What’s also interesting is that SEGA Europe is listed as the game’s publisher, so this makes it rather likely that Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will be released in Europe as well. Previously, SEGA Europe had stated that they were looking into releasing the game in Europe, although online retailer Rice Digital has been selling the EU version of the game for a while now. Hopefully, we’ll get a confirmation that the game is indeed heading to Europe soon!
SEGA Europe “Very Interested in Bringing All of the Group’s Japanese Content” to Europe
In a recent interview with MVC, Sega Europe’s SVP of commercial publishing John Clarck talked about SEGA’s PC business and how it shaped the company’s future. Interestingly, he also commented on their desire to deliver Japanese content from the entire group within SEGA.
SEGA Europe: “No Plans Right Now” to Bring 7th Dragon III Code: VFD to Europe, Atlus “Free To Choose” Their EU Publisher
During the latest SEGA Central, SEGA Europe Community Manager Dan Sheridan answered another batch of #AskSEGA questions from the fans. When asked by Suketodara whether or not they’re planning to bring 7th Dragon III Code: VFD to Europe, Dan answered:
Right now there are no plans to bring 7th Dragon to Europe. However, we know that there are European SEGA fans who are keen to see a release. There’s nothing we can confirm today, but we are looking if it’s something we can make happen.
NIS America Will no Longer be Publishing Atlus Games in Europe
Video game website MCVUK posted an article today, revealing that NIS America will no longer be publishing Atlus games in Europe. NIS America’s Managing DIrector Takuro Yamashita revealed that the company cut ties with Atlus ten days ago, stating that Atlus got “very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega.”. Following the reveal of this news, Atlus (and SEGA of America) PR manager John Hardin tweeted that the release of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir in Europe will not be affected by these events. As such, it’s likely that this will be the final Atlus game published by NISA Europe.
SEGA Europe Announces New SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub on Steam (UPDATED)
Update: In the press release following the announcement, SEGA Europe have announced a 66% off sale on all SEGA Mega Drive games currently available on the platform. The sales will start when the service launches on April 28th. At the moment, it’s not clear what all this means for the US. We’re assuming the sales and the hub will be available, but whether or not it will still use the Mega Drive name is unknown. The games will also feature Steam Workshop support, but the exact details aren’t know yet.
Original post:
During the latest SEGA Central today, SEGA Europe have revealed that they’ll be launching the new SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub on Steam on April 28th. As the name suggests, this is a hub from where you can access your favorite SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis games on Steam. But rather than a simple menu, the hub is actually a 3D room, based on a typical bedroom of an early nineties SEGA fan. It features dynamic time-of-day effects, a shelf that displays all the Mega Drive games on Steam and a classic CRT TV. You can view the official announcement video and the SEGA Central episode featuring more information below. We also included the entire list of SEGA’s currently available Steam games that you’ll be able to access through the hub. Buying any of these games on Steam will grant you access to the hub. You can also find more information on SEGA Europe’s newly revealed news blog.
It’s not clear if this hub will actually be available in the US, as the update makes no mention of it. The SEGA Mega Drive was known as the SEGA Genesis in the US, so it’d be odd if the hub used the same name worldwide. Continue reading
SEGA Europe Responds to #TakeMyMoneySoE Fan Campaign
Yesterday, SEGAbits and Sonic Retro launched a new fan #TakeMyMoneySoE campaign, following a forum post by Overlord. The idea is to show SEGA Europe that they’re losing money by not bringing games like the SEGA 3D Classics Collection to Europe, even though they’ve already been announced for the US. In order to demonstrate this, SEGA fans in Europe are asked to write down the name of the game they want to see localized for the European market on a sheet of paper, together with a few bank notes totaling the cost of a regular game, take a picture of it and then tweet it to @SEGA_Europe with the #TakeMyMoneySoE hash tag.
SEGA Reveals Their Games Lineup for PC Gamers Weekender in London
The upcoming PC GAMER WEEKENDER event (5th & 6th March at The Truman Brewery in London) will feature an entire “Sega Zone” with 72 PCs exhibiting more than 20 playable games. While the big titles are of course Total War™: WARHAMMER and Warhammer 40,000®: Dawn of War II, SEGA have also included some of their other PC games. We had a look at the official website for the event, and compiled a list of SEGA games that will be playable there:
SEGA Europe Hints at Valkyria Chronicles Remaster Release for the West, More Info Next Week
SEGA Europe’s latest episode of SEGA Central, where they announce the latest news on SEGA games, showed us a bit of the Japanese Valkyria Chronicles Remaster trailer, and Dan Sheridan told viewers to tune in next week if they wanted to know if the game will be localized. While not an outright confirmation, it strongly implies that SEGA will soon be announcing that the PS4 version will indeed be released in the West. Watch the latest episode below!
Also worth noting is that in a recent Twitter poll by SEGA Europe, the majority of fans asked to see more content from SEGA of Japan. As you can see at the end of the video, it seems that Dan is already hard at work researching SEGA of Japan’s Youtube videos. In particular the ones featuring Japanese gravure idol Saki Yoshida.
