Lastly, we’ve got a new trailer for you to peruse:

With Tokyo being ground zero for scheming gods and monstrous demons, only the strongest and craftiest can survive in the former metropolis turned literal hell on earth. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse has a varied cast of characters that players need to utilize properly in order to endure the harsh realities — mostly the very high possibility of death around every corner — of post-apocalyptic life.

Here’s a look at some of the useful partners that players will bring into battle:

  • Nanashi – Nanashi is the silent player controlled protagonist who’s trying to become a full fledged member of the Hunter Association.  He gets murdered early in the game by a demon, but is given a second chance at life by the god Dagda.  In return, he must serve as Dagda’s personal “Godslayer” in the world changing events to come…
  • Asahi – The ever optimistic Asahi is Nanashi’s childhood friend/Hunter Association teammate. She’s eager to prove herself in the field, but will need to overcome her doubts in order to become a key member of the group.
  • Navarre – This familiar Samurai from the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado is making a return! Well sort of, because Navarre is no longer what we would call “alive.” He’s now a green ghost who can use his ethereal powers to the benefit of the team.
  • Nozomi – Nozomi is another familiar character who is the newly appointed Fairy Queen working under the protection of the goddess Danu. She’s a level-headed and mature ally who will provide valuable skills and insight for the party.
  • Hallelujah– This young gray haired individual is a member of the Ashura-kai gang, who is ordered to join Nanashi and co. in their journey to “watch” them. Hallelujah is accompanied by his foxlike pet demon Chironnupu, who will support him in battle.
  • Gaston – Gaston, or as he likes to call himself Gaston the Magnificent, is the brash and arrogant younger brother of Navarre. He is the leader of an elite squad of Samurai called the Crusaders and will undoubtedly be a useful partner during fights. That is, if players can stand his braggadocios nature, but you know what they say, “no one fights like Gaston!”
  • Toki – This mysterious Oni mask wearing girl in black is an assassin for the Ring of Gaea faction. She absolutely does not have an ulterior motive for joining the squad. Nope, totally doesn’t have a hidden agenda or anything like that.
  • Isabeau – This steadfast Samurai is the best friend and confidant of the heroic Flynn (the protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei IV). Isabeau is an experienced warrior who will act as a great role model for the younger members of the party.

One finds Beauty & The Beast references in the most surprising locations.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse – Story Trailer

Atlus USA has published a new Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse trailer, focusing on the game’s story and the player’s decision to choose a particular side in the continuing grand conflict between deities and humans. The story trailer is nice for checking out some English gameplay and the voicework (!) that can be found in the game.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse - Story Trailer

Also, check out this accompanying press release below, alongside a handful of newly published screenshots.

The protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse dies. Oops, spoilers! Oh wait no, that’s in like…the first five minutes of the game. That’s right, the Hunter-in-training for the Outlaw Hunters, a demon-fighting organization, bites off more than he could chew early in the game and gets murdered by a particularly unconcerned (yet fabulous) demon.
This is the agent of your demise

Luckily for players, death isn’t exactly a permanent state in the world of Apocalypse. The lesser god Dagda has taken a keen interest towards our hero and “rewards” him with a second chance at life. But like most things in life, the second chance isn’t free, and the protagonist is bound to Dagda as his vassal for the coming events.

As Tokyo is caught as the battle ground between Merkabah and Lucifer (with some familiar faces from the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado thrown in the mix), Dagda’s position in the battle isn’t exactly clear, but one thing’s for sure…the protagonist’s work is just beginning.

There’s also a segment of the press release dedicated to DLC outfits for those who preorder through select retailers. We’ve attached images of the costumes after the press comments. They are arranged in the order that the press release presents them.

Oh, we’re not done yet! Because you can’t just go around the ruins of Tokyo looking like a slob, players who pre-order Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse from GameStop/EB Games, Amazon.com/Amazon.ca, or Best Buy will receive some stylish DLC armor, fit for the aspiring demon-hunter! Take a look below:

The GSEB Power Suit is a bold red and black jumpsuit that will strike fear in the hearts of demons, and should effectively hide wounds sustained in battle!

The Prime Suit is a packaging-themed jumpsuit that lets demons know that their lives will be ended swiftly and without any hassle!

The sharp yellow, blue, and khaki colors of the Retail Hero jumpsuit are perfect for those who opt for a more professional demon-hunting look.

Atlus USA Booth Plans for E3 2016 Include Yakuza 0

Towards the end of February, it had been noticed that two different branches of SEGA would be representing the company at E3 2016 – Atlus USA and SEGA Europe. While at first this may have raised questions about the whereabouts of SEGA of America in particular and what plans there would be for any upcoming English-localized SEGA titles from Japan, we now have our answer courtesy of an update to the Atlus USA profile on the official E3 2016 website. Quoted below:

ATLUS U.S.A., Inc. is known for high-quality, deeply immersive, uniquely Japanese and indie video game experiences. Our award-winning catalog continues to grow across a variety of genres and platforms. Visit our booth featuring highly anticipated titles from ATLUS and SEGA, including Persona 5, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, and Yakuza 0.

Interestingly, there’s a wide swath of genres listed in this Atlus profile page, including Fighting/Wrestling, Indie, Music/Dance, Role-Playing, Strategy, Action, Adventure, and Localization. These cover virtually all modern active gaming platforms. So we can probably expect more than what’s listed at the description, at the very least. With yet-to-be-released titles such as Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (releasing later this month!) and Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X, this is to be expected. Nevertheless it must be said that this doesn’t guarantee that these two titles in particular will be present, though we would hope to see a generous offering of titles on display.
