Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Post-Release Promotional Merchandise

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final released in Japan last week. To further promote the game, special themed merchandise is being released in exclusive collaborations with certain Japanese outlets.

ankorock SMT IV FINALFirst, here is the products page for a FINAL collaboration with the Japanese fashion brand ankoROCK. From parkas to T-shirts to pants to fingerless gloves and even masks, there’s a lot on display. Clicking on an individual item will take you to an order page. These are indeed fashionable – anyone can see it and I myself like the designs on display. Go and take coordinated ensembles like these to Milan or Paris and show everyone what’s up.

red ensemble ankorock SMT IV FINALTo my friend in the picture, the red shoes are so problematic that they are giving demons power. The red is too bright and looks plastic-y, and the soles on the shoes are a little too strong. (But fashion is partially about personal taste, in the end…)

*the note at the bottom of the image suggests that the shoes are not part of the collaboration, anyway 😉

ankorock SMT IV FINAL green ensembleI love how the inside of the sleeves are white. It adds more color, and makes the fabric look appealing to the touch.

But just so you know, as with plenty of especially fashionable items, these skew towards the pricey side. Orders are being taken until the end of March.

PPARCO SMT IV FINALNext, check out this collaboration announced with P’PARCO on the FINAL website. P’PARCO is a multi-floor shopping center for food, fashion, and pop culture items, located in Ikebukuro. this is a limited time promotion that ends on February 21. Items being offered include SMT map symbol-inspired phone jacks, three different T-shirt designs, acrylic keychains, a wall scroll, pens and a smartphone case. In addition, check out these bromides:

bromide SMT IV FINALThey come in sets of three, packaged randomly, and feature many of the important figures of Shin Megami Tensei IV FINAL, human or deity. But of course, check out the above links to see the many other items on offer.

TBI SMT IV FINALLastly, restaurant company TBI Group is hosting its own collaboration with SMT IV FINAL. Locations in Osaka and Tokyo will host a menu of character-themed items. The Tokyo locations will operate until March 13th, and the Osaka location will operate until March 20th. What makes this promotion interesting is that each of the several locations offer specific menu arrangements of food and drink items; there aren’t any dishes that are store-specific, but no one place is the same!

Also, BEEHOUSE is participating in this promotion by offering cocktails you can create by mixing different drinks (and the bases are named after different SMT demons.)

If you happen to be in Japan, the links I posted above will actually direct you to each of the participating restaurant’s locations. A helpful tool, to be sure!

It’s nice to see the love for Shin Megami Tensei IV FINAL continuing in Japan. Such promotions are not outside of the norm, but still fun to see. No localization has been announced for regions outside of Japan as of yet.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final New Gameplay Demo Footage

If you’re reading this, it is now February 10th in Japan: the day Shin Megami Tensei IV Final will be released (alongside Valkyria Chronicles Remastered!) Though it’s not long after midnight there…

Anyway, 4Gamer posted an extended preview video of Shin Megami Tensei IV Final to their YouTube account. The first half or so of the video feature some dialogue scenes that set up the game’s story. The latter half of the video features gameplay – the battle system, various menu navigations, the map system.

As of now, there’s no word on the localization status of this game. Atlus tends to be rather consistent about localizations, certainly so for major Shin Megami Tensei-related games, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store this game in the West.

Medusa FINAL

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Character Video: Medusa

Another Shin Megami Tensei IV Final character monologue video for you to check out! This feels rather fast after the release of the Krishna video not too long ago. Anyway – we have Medusa, and Atlus’ interpretation of the iconic Greek monster with snakes for a head of hair. She is affiliated with the Polytheistic Alliance. Seems the characters that are going to be introduced here in these videos are all new – which makes sense. But we have less than a week until Final is released in Japan, so you have to wonder who else might receive a video in the few days that are left.

SMT IV Final Krishna

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Character Video Series: Krishna

The Shin Megami Tensei IV Final character video series from Atlus continues with the dapper dude in green: Krishna. He is the leader of the Polytheistic Alliance, a new faction introduced in FINAL, which seeks a coalition between deities in order to subjugate humankind. He is described as selfish and manipulative, and seeks Flynn’s allegiance for his own purposes.

We often see Krishna with the bansuri, a flute that is an important part of the mythology of Krishna in Hinduism.

Like the video on Daguza, this video is an extended monologue series featuring 8-bit-inspired graphics.

The release date for Shin Megami Tensei IV Final (January 10! basically one week left!) is fast approaching. There are many characters who have not received a monologue video; perhaps it’s being received for some of the newer major characters?

The video is below for your viewing. I must say, I wasn’t expecting this voice; he sounds quite young.

Daguza SMT IV Final

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final Character Video Series – Daguza

Atlus of Japan’s YouTube account will be periodically posting character videos for Shin Megami Tensei IV Final on the way to its February 10 release date. Today’s video is for Daguza. Daguza revives the protagonist and bestows him with the power to control demons. Daguza is likely not so charitable for its own sake – and in the occasional pieces of promotional images we see that Daguza is likely affiliated with the Polytheistic Alliance (Daguza makes mention of Krishna a few times near the video’s end), a group comprised of deities who unsuccessfully attempt to lobby Merkabah and Lucifer to their side. This was all in a gambit to subjugate humanity through a massive coalition of godlike beings, instead of gods warring against each other and then one victor subjugating humanity. To that end, the protagonist may be a helpful tool to the Alliance’s goal. Or he may not be…it’s up to you!

It’s rather long, at about 2:30 minutes, and the extended monologue and sprite animation is a rather unexpected direction. I rather like how Daguza is animated here. But be warned, the same revival sequence that you see once is repeated about half a dozen times, so if you don’t know Japanese you’ll have to learn to love the animation of Daguza floating around.

January 25th Sega Niconico Live Stream: Featuring Yakuza 6 Demo, Valkyria Chronicles Remaster

Sega has announced plans for another Sega niconico live broadcast set for January 25 (next Monday) at 8:55 P.M. Japan Standard Time. Scheduled for demoing are the Yakuza 6 demo and the Valkyria Chronicles Remaster for PS4.

Additionally, Yakuza Kiwami (which released today in Japan!) will be demoed, and some additional and as of yet unspecified new media/info for Shin Megami Tensei IV Final (which will release on February 10) will be discussed during this stream.

Personally I think it will be quite funny if Toshihiro Nagoshi shows up again, only to act stoic for 90% of the stream. It was strangely enjoyable the last time he did that.

Sign up for a niconico account and view the stream here when the time arrives!

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final is set to release in Japan in about a month (February 10!). Ahead of the game’s launch, Atlus announced some early copy bonuses for Final. Shin Megami Tensei IV Final: New Three Minute Promotional Video

Atlus uploaded a new promotional video for Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final to their Japanese YouTube account earlier this week. There’s a lot on display – some new music from the game (sounding nice, in my opinion,) new animated sequences, new dungeons and environments, and even some old faces if you manage to spot them. Brief cuts of the seven partner characters are also shown off, alongside battles and demon fusion.

Continue reading to check out the trailer. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final is set to release on the 10th of February in Japan, but there’s no word on localization outside of Japan as of yet.

Famitsu Christmas 2015 SMT IV Final

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final: New Partner Characters Introduced

The most recent issue of Weekly Famitsu introduced more Partner characters for Shin Megami Tensei IV Final. Gaston, the new guy wearing lots of white, represents the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado’s Samurai legion (just like many of the characters in the first Shin Megami Tensei IV game.) The young man sporting grey hair and a black and yellow outfit is Hallelujah of Ashura-kai, an organization that had attempted to “coexist” with demons using some very alarming methods. And the purple and black figure with the Japanese demon mask is Toki of the Cult of Gaia. They oppose the Ashura-kai’s philosophy and espouse maximal liberty and “Rule by the Strong.”

This is a great collection of people who probably disagree heavily with each other! Gaston certainly doesn’t seem the type to play nice.

This collection of different personalities might be how one takes advantage of the multiple endings that this game is purported to offer. In any case, we’ll find out more when the game releases in Japan in February. No word on localizations yet.

Duo Arts Genei Ibun Roku #FE

Genei Ibun Roku #FE – Extra Skills, New Character and Enemies!

This has been another big week for Genei Ibun Roku #FE news, and it stands to reason because in one week from now the game will be released in Japan!

First, this week’s edition of Weekly Famitsu unveiled a new character named Chikaomi Tsurugi. He has a rather ominous look to him. Nintendo has given him a short profile on the Genei Ibun Roku #FE official website’s sub character section. If you haven’t already done so, check out the larger profiles for the  main characters too.

The official website also saw a few other updates. I’ll draw your attention to this Enemy section which features six major Mirage enemies, all themed after one of six colors: green, blue, purple, orange, pink, and red. They’re also named after Fire Emblem characters – from left to right, top to bottom, it’s: Abel, Lon’qu, Aversa, Gangrel, Garrick, and Excellus.
