SEGA Europe has posted another teaser for the PC release of Vanquish on their Twitter account, after already including a teaser image in the PC release of Bayonetta. The image shows the logo of the “Order of the Russian Star”, as seen in Vanquish, along with the text “2017”, suggesting we’ll be seeing a PC release of the game this year. Vanquish is a third-person shooter that was originally released on both PS3 and Xbox 360, and was part of a series of games that were made by Platinum Games and funded by SEGA.

Digital Foundry Retro Revisits Shenmue 2
From time to time Digital Foundry revisits classic games in their Digital Foundry Retro articles, and the latest one features Shenmue 2. Around a half our long it’s the longest Digital Foundry Retro video yet, and explores not only the original Dreamcast version, but also the Xbox version, its emulation on Xbox 360, and emulation on PC via DEMUL. They also compare the Japanese and English voice acting and the work of the modding community on the Shenmue Dojo forums. It’s definitely worth watching for anyone interested in Shenmue, Dreamcast or just video games in general. You can find the DF Retro video of Shenmue 2 below, as well as their video for the original Shenmue. It’s worth noting that DF Retro also took a look at Daytona USA some time ago.
Guardian Heroes Joins Backward Compatibility List for Xbox One
Major Nelson posted another update today, informing people that Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Guardian Heroes have been made backward compatible for Xbox One. Previously released for Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360, Guardian Heroes was an enhanced version of the original 2D side-scrolling beat ’em up game, which was first released on the Sega Saturn. The Xbox Live Arcade version was ported by Treasure and published by SEGA.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is Now Backwards Compatible With Xbox One
Microsoft has announced yet another set of games that are joining the ever-growing list of Xbox360 games that are backward compatible with Xbox One, and one of them is SEGA’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Aside from being a great racing game in and of itself, it also includes countless references to many classic SEGA franchises. You get to play as characters from Sonic, Skies of Arcadia, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS and many other SEGA games, and the tracks are similarly based on classic SEGA franchises (including the Sega Saturn classics Panzer Dragoon and Burning Rangers).
If you consider yourself to be a SEGA fan, this really is a game you need to play. Aside from Xbox360, PS3, PS Vita and now Xbox One, the game is also available on PC (often at a very low price). There’s a mobile version as well, but I’d recommend the console/PC versions as they’re far superior and don’t include in-app purchases.
Project Diva F 2nd and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Released in Europe
Europe got not one but two games from Sega and Atlus yesterday. The first one of those is of course Project Diva F 2nd. We’ve detailed the release of the US version in an earlier article. The sequel to Project Diva F brings with it an improved localization (with English song lyrics) and other features such as Japanese save imports, on top of what was already a great rhythm game. The game is available for both the PS3 and PS Vita.
Apart from Project Diva F 2nd, Sega Europe has also released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Unfortunately, there’s some bad news here. Despite the fact that the European fans had to wait longer for the release of the game, the Marie/Adachi DLC, which was offered for free in the US for the first week, won’t be free at all for Europe. Instead, they’ll cost you €4,49 or £3.69 each. Despite that setback, the game itself has been receiving very positive reviews. Anyone that enjoyed the first game is unlikely to be disappointed by the sequel. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is available for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
If you’re playing either of these games, why not let us know in the comments? We always enjoy reading the comments from our readers!
Upcoming Sega and Atlus Games for November
November is proving to be an interesting month for Sega and Atlus fans, with plenty of games heading our way. First of all, tomorrow sees the release of Valkyria Chronicles on PC. IncGamer seem to be the first offering their impressions on the PC port, and judging from their article the port delivers exactly what Sega promised, with support for different resolutions, framerate equal to the refresh rate of your monitor and configurable mouse/keyboard support. The game is still available for pre-order on Steam with a 10% discount.
