SEGA’s Tokyo Game Show 2016 Stage Event Schedule

SEGA recently released their stage event plans for Tokyo Game Show 2016, which begins today in Japan. Gematsu translated the event descriptions for the many stage events that will be held this week.

In their announcement, SEGA posted streaming options for each day throughout September 15-18, including Niconico, YouTube, and AbemaTV. Incidentally, it seems that some of the stage events (including those that feature SEGA Hard Girls, Phantasy Star Online 2, Persona 5, and Puyo Puyo Chronicle) don’t allow photography from non-media attendees. Sad news if any of our readers are attending!

But of course, being able to attend Tokyo Game Show 2016 sounds like great fun as well. For those who are planning on enjoying the news from a distance, we’ve included the streaming links on YouTube below for each of the four days.

Yakuza 6 Includes Playable Versions of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Puyo Puyo, Both With 2 Player Mode

Famitsu has revealed more information regarding Yakuza 6, and it includes some interesting information regarding the activities that you’ll be able to experience in the game’s “Play Spots”. Thanks to the translation from Gematsu, we’ve now learned that both Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and Puyo Puyo will be playable, and they’ll both feature a two-player mode. This also means that SEGA have in fact ported Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown to PS4, so it’s reasonable to think SEGA might end up releasing the game separately as well (and who knows, perhaps this also paves the way for a PC version). In addition, the arcade classics Outrun, Super Hang-On, Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone will also be playable.

Yakuza 6 Prologue Outline

SEGA has recently published a press statement detailing the events that set up Yakuza 6‘s story, along with a handful of images that may seem familiar if you’ve seen the story trailer. Yakuza 6: New Teaser PV, Release Date, English-Subtitled Version by KHHsubs

Sega has released a major promotional video for Yakuza 6, now officially subtitled as “inochi no uta” or “poetry of life.” The trailer bills the game as the final chapter of the legend of Kazuma Kiryu. What does this mean for Kiryu and the future of the Yakuza series…?

Yakuza 6 will take place in Jingaicho, based off of Onomichi, Hiroshima, alongside the series’ mainstay location of Kamurocho. This new location is important since Haruka is involved in a life-threatening accident in Hiroshima, and this prompts Kiryu to meet several new characters and discover a new world in Hiroshima. But as we see in the video, Kiryu and Haruka are still tied to the yakuza, the Tojo Clan, and Kamurocho.

Yakuza 6 Japanese Official Website Launched, Preorder Opening Date Announced

Last night, Toshihiro Nagoshi participated in another SEGANAMA stream on Niconico. It was announced then that preorders for Yakuza 6 will open on July 26th. No details on actual release date at this time, but presumably they’ll be surfacing in the near future.

Incidentally, Nagoshi was accompanied by ex-Konami producer Hideo Kojima. Here’s a post-show image taken from Hideo Kojima’s English Twitter account:

Another Yakuza 6 Demo Stream (With Commentary) Uploaded to YouTube

Last month, another niconico stream for the Yakuza 6 demo featuring Toshihiro Nagoshi was announced for the month of March. The Ryu ga Gotoku YouTube account recently uploaded that footage to YouTube, and we’ve attached it below for your viewing.

It’s the same demo from before, but the footage itself is different, so we’ll leave it to our viewers to check it out. Actual game footage lasts from about 9:30 to 19:30. At around 4:10, viewers might recognize a picture of Nagoshi from the set of the recently-uploaded Yakuza Kiwami commercial produced for the Korean version.
